Showtime's back.
Now if the Lakers can trade Lamar Odom for Jason Kidd that would absolutely complete the package and skyrocket the Lakers to the top. But most likely the Lakers will keep Lamar Odom for his contract to expire next year with the probability of him being re-signed very slim. Lamar Odom's salary room would be given to secure Andrew Bynum long term after his contract expires the same year as Lamar. Lamar will not be a Laker after next season. Andrew Bynum is nowhere near reaching his full potential yet. He leads the lead in field goal percentage, his points per game just rises higher and higher as the season progresses and for him to average over 10 rebounds a game in just 28 minutes of play is astonishing. Expect him to be the second leading score on the Laker team above Pau Gasol and under Kobe Bryant.
Not only do the Lakers gain Pau Gasol they get rid of Kwame Brown. A complete waste of a player. Can't score, can't rebound, can't pass, can't defend, consistently misses wide open dunks and layups. Puts absolutely no effort on the floor. Stephen Smith doesn't put it any better than this in this video.
I have to give Mitch Kupchak some credit. The decision not to trade Andrew Bynum for Jason Kidd was definitely the correct one. And now getting Pau Gasol while giving up nothing. I can almost forgive him now for trading Caron Butler for Kwame. The past few years have been tough for the Lakers but if history is any indicator, the Lakers are never down for that long. They are now back in a big way. Time for the Lakers to reach the NBA Finals for the 29th time.
