He isn't what he was and he never will be again. Maybe if he had died young like Hendrix he would have been immortalised in his best days. But of course that would have been a genuine tragedy just as it was for Jimi and anyone who dies so young. Lost my point a bit here, Carlos is great at what he does but what he does lately is something I can personally live without quite nicely. But im a guitar player, im looking at him possibly from a different perspective than some of you.
Yea I don't play..............

You heard him w/ John Lee Hooker........

Everyone changes, or else they're stagnant. I miss Cat Stevens to be honest. But hey it is his choice.

To be honest man, I really don't get heavily into blues. If I do it is usually a bit of a different approach to it like Ray Charles or Hendrix or this fellow...

Im sure he isn't losing sleep over me not being a fan lol. Agreed ? . I miss Cat Stevens too, my Dad used to play him when I was a little youngling. He (Yusaf Islam or w.e. he calls himself these days) just came out with a new Album last year or so though. Did you hear any of it ?.

I've seen Santana several times live. He's had a guru for decades, and I saw an interview with him a year or two ago, that floored me.

Whoda thunk, that Santana was getting counseling for...are you ready...anger management.

He was into pot, and they were making it look like he had to stop smoking, or he was doomed. I never pictured Carlos w/anger management issues, but I had heard that he was stubborn when it came to his bands.

I heard an interview w/Greg Rollie many years ago, in which he told of Carlos' refusal to record the song Evil Ways.

Now, I see Willie Bobo getting credit for the song, but I thought it was a Rollie song. Either way, the song was obviously one of their biggest hits, once he finally agreed to record it.

In the last decade or so, he's working with current artists, and has created a second coming. Funny, I don't know the artists when I have the radio on, but I can pick out Carlos' licks every time.

I believe his most recent is with Chad Kroeger?

In the Smiley interview last night he did not mention any of that when he talked about the song..........

He did say that Bill Graham told him to do the song & how to do it... Essentially saying prior to that they just jammed........

Kan, the guitar world (the one I know at least) has ruined the blues for me. SO narrowly confined by narrow minded fools. You gotta play pentatonic and blues scales slowly with lots of bends and face pulling or it ain't blues apparently. To me blues is a form of expression, obviously theres a "sound" people link with it, but I just feel like the guitar world has defined it so narrowly that I don't care enough to even touch it anymore. Im more into Blues Rock, Rock, Classical and Neo-Classical.
