Carlos Sanatana.............???

What is up w/ him..

I saw him last night on the Travis Smiley show w/ his son promoting their new cd's & he was kinda babbling & had his hands clasped together like a Hindu monk when responding to questions........

Also what I found troubling was some of his answers to his music influences etc.....

The first song he was asked about was "black magic women"....... Which he neither wrote or originally did........ If was written by Peter Green of Fleetwoodmac who he did not mention.............

Also in listing his influences he almost totally negated the blues. Hell his first band was the Carlos Santana blues band............

One of my all time favorite cd's is still "the healer" w/ Carlos & John Lee Hooker....

He's just pandering to a new generation. Or, he was under the influence.

It's funny though. I have a 16 you musician son, and all these kids are crazy about 70s and 80s music and aren't too fond of a lot of the new stuff, unless it's some underground band. In fact, I find I very surprising how many of them wear Led Zepplin T-shirts. My son must have 30 concert t-shirts from that era he got online. Santana will do just fine.

Your son is an exception............

Yea I talk w/ a lot of them & they really seem to wear them mostly for the style & really know little or noting about the face on the shirt.......

Marley is a popular & great example I ask them what there fav cd is & they get nervous cause they can't name one. What song. AAhhhhh..... Maybe they can name one..........

Same w/ Che shirts.......... I never had one kid EVER get it right........ CLosest one was Che got killed in some drug dealings in Columbia....

Hell I even convinced one that the Che shirt was actually a Marley shirt....

Not him. He knows the name and guitar of everyone who's ever held one I think. But you're right. These t-shirts are incredibly popular, and I doubt most of these kids know who the heck Jimmy Page is.

It's funny that ou mentioned Che. My son, on another message board, wrote something about him. I tried to find it but couldn't. I THINK he was saying he thought people made a fuss over him who didn't even understand what he was really about. I'll have to ask him.

Yep.. He has become a convenient poster child for many.................

The one I always found ironic or worse was La Raza........

THey used his face & yet he was not Chicano nor even from Mexico.

He is Irish & Spanish from Argentina......... You would think you could find a better poster child.????

Lol. El Ché Guevara. Iconoclastic dude for the youngsters. Usually associated with some sort of punk vibe. That picture of him with the boina will always grab attention. I loved my red T-shirt with him back in the day, and still see kids (BTW, wearing military boots with no socks, LOL!) with them.

Santana has always done fine. It's like the movies, you can only come up with so much and there's nothing left but, well, leftovers (Refering to the newer groups who produce crap). However, you can't match the masters of the day! Or decades I should say.

Santana isn't bad for someone who only knows 2 licks. If he's presently fucked up or not I have no clue, I liked that album with Maria Maria and Smooth on it though, good tracks. Last I saw Carlos was all spiritual and religious to the point of too much, at which point I stopped caring so much what he had to say.
