No shit! Thank God someone finally called out the media on this. GO SNL! I guess this is what's left of a free press, how freakin' sad is that. I've been complaining about this for months. He's golden and can do no wrong. All of his shortcomings, scumbag associations, and lack of knowledge about his own policies are swept under the rug. The media has already crowned him king, and no matter what she does, she's screwed, and characterized as "attacking," emotional, malipulative, etc. He's a carbon copy of Gov. Patrick, with his message straight out of David Axelrod's imagination! Even his spouse get's special treatment for her gaffs, while if Bill Clinton sneezes they crucify him. Wake up people, this is the same media whose bias, spin, lack of integrity and investigative journalism brought us George Bush, the Iraq War, and nightly discussions about Britney twat sightings. Is American Idol democracy what we've come to? Bravo SNL! (Here's the SNL link, cause they will pull down this youtube eventually.NBC.com > Saturday Night Live) Last edited by Teri B.; 02-24-2008 at 08:01 AM. |

This is the same media that backed a moron as president twice. The media that said a decorated war hero was a wimp and a dope addict draft dodger was a military hero. The media that made Max Cleland a terrorist sympathizer despite his leaving 3 limbs in Vietnam. The same media that told you Saddam had stockpiles of chemical weapons and the means to shoot LA with them. The media that made a covert CIA agent a clerk so that Cheney and his cronies could avoid being tried for treason.
Soon SNL and Comedy Central will be the only place in the U.S. giving us unbiased news.

The SNL Is Back
Tina Fey, Political Humor Puts the Search Sizzle Back for SNL By Vera H-C Chan Mon, February 25, 2008, 2:46 pm PST < Previous | Next > Maybe the "Saturday Night Live" writers should go on strike more often. After weeks of being off the air, the show resumed its 33rd season in fine fettle, skewering everything from political media coverage to drug commercials. The SNL return registered a high TV rating surge and prompted an 824% spike in searches for "saturday night live skits," as well as a walk down memory lane for its best classics. Among the latest skits, it was host Tina Fey's return to her old Weekend Update anchor desk that set the buzz afire. She took up the cause of Hillary Clinton and unleashed an inappropriate-for-family-media slogan, in effect "(Being a Formidable Woman) is the New Black." Her in-your-face defense catapulted Fey into the top 3,000 searches, got her video embedded in blogs across the nation, and garnered the "30 Rock" star more searches than the current SNL cast combined. Amy Poehler, who portrayed the presidential candidate, did impress enough to make her the top-searched SNL player. Contrast that with Fred Armisen, the Barack Obama stand-in whose color-blind casting has failed to excite either critical opinion or Web attention. Instead, it prompted some searchers to seek out the real thing's Halloween appearance. So, has Fey and Poehler's messaging helped the Clinton cause? Maybe, at least in addressing the reported gender gap between the Democratic contender and male voters: Men conducted 75% of those "tina fey" searchers. Bump for Clinton herself? Not so much. Mike Huckabee's live appearance is another story. The burr in John McCain's backside registered a palpable 30% rise in lookups, plus another slew of queries like "huckabee snl." Looks like Clinton may want some new plans for Saturday night. If she does do a cameo, at least she'll know to wear black for the occasion. |

SNL was great - I was waiting for the first show after the strike - and they did not disappoint. Tina Fey , you ROCK!
In a segment on Update called "Women's News" ("It's a great time to be a lady in America!") Fey celebrated the news of a woman running for president -- and then (after a bitty swipe at Oprah), "women are so independent today - they will think exactly how Oprah tells them too" She then proceeded to take aim at a number of Hillary-hating arguments: That if elected she wouldn't be able to "control" hubby Bill Clinton and there'd be "co-presidents" in the White House ("'Cause that would be terrible, having two intelligent, qualified people working together to solve problems -- why would you let Starsky talk to Hutch?"); reassuring the audience that, even though they were married, they were having "about as much sex as George Bush and Jeb Bush are" and smacking down Rush Limbaugh for his comments that "America's not ready to watch their president turn into an old lady. "Really?" asked Fey. "'Cause they didn't seem to mind when Ronald Reagan did that." But what bugged her most, said Fey, was when people said that Clinton was a bitch. "Yeah, she is," said Fey. "And so am I -- and so is this one over here," gesturing at Amy Poehler. "Yeah, deal with it," said Poehler. [b]Fey's point: Bitches got things done, yo, and that's why Hillary would be a good president. "So I'm sayin, it's not too late, Texas and Ohio, get on board! Bitch is the new black!" |
