Online Art Gallery Finished -- Comments?
http://RollerGallery.net
With 5 days before my shows open I finished updating my website. I'm usually not that efficient, but i made up for it by leaving a whole lot of other stuff still to do before the weekend. The main site is for my Kinetic Sculpture, there is a sub-site of my old artwork; oil, pastel, pencil, digital art and photography. The old art site is kind of hidden, you have to go to the "About The Artist" page then find the "Click Here" link to it there. I put it in the background for two reasons, I don't sell that art and most of the photography is fine art nude. Don't want no little old ladies looking for a sculpture for their garden to keel over should they stumble on that area. But not to fear, there is No Porn, just pretty pictures. If you did some detective work and found my site before this, take another look, all new videos and many new photos. There are still little tweaks like adding music to the videos and things like that, but that can come later. Enjoy. P.S. Rewards for reporting any broken images or links you find. I think I tested it enough, but you never know. |

Not now, but if someone wanted to invent something... I've got the wind half!

The nudie pix include two wives, a few friends and several models that I'd hired. It's always easier with a wife, you can go exotic locations far away that I wouldn't be able to afford to pay to take a model. Plus I've been lucky that both my wifes were eager models. About 4 years ago my current wife and I were shooting downtown Chicago at the fountains and balconies around the Art Institute. On any Sunday morning in the spring when it starts to get light at 4:30am you can have downtown Chicago to yourself. We did some video too, her rollerblading around the balconies nude with a long silk vale. I was skating along side her with the camera when an early morning jogger came around the corner. But at that moment her vale got stuck in her wheels, so.... The guy was polite, he smiled and said good morning and asked if he could get a copy of the tape. |

I like it, job well done.
There's only a few things I'd change. Your showing borders around the pictures in the Wind.htm frame. I'd see if you could eliminate them. But since they are links you might not be able to. You could possibly not make then links, since the "more info" line suffices for that. Which comes to my other thing. Your using the default link colors, and they're a tad harsh and not congruent with the rest of the colors of the page. Plus the visited link color (deep purple) get's a tad too dark for the black background. Personally I don't like "visited link" colors. It's just one more thing to try and coordinate with the rest of a site. Unless there's a need for the viewer to know where he/she has been, I make both the link and the visited link color the same. You'd have to introduce one more color to the webpage, but being an artist I don't think finding something complementary to the page will be hard for you. It has to be enough to stand out so people know it's a link but not too much to be "out of place". Which I think is what the default colors are doing right now. Other then that I really like it. Not busy, easy on the eye and simple to navigate. 3 big things any website should be. |
