Font help, Please.

I am reconstructing a turn of the century Archaeological map of the Roman Forum.

In order to make this appear as crisp as a modern computer generated map I am removing all of the text and replacing it.

The fonts in this illustration are not typical of serif fonts you see. Look at the Ca R in the main title at the bot tum. It has a unique curve.

Could some of you help me search for a close facsimile. I either need Normal, Bold and Italics or a font that Photoshop can manipulate. (I am not sure if the font type makes a difference....shows you how much I know).

I will probably make three versions. A modern contemporary reconstruction that looses the accurate detail of each individual paving stone as originally drawn. One restoration of the untouched photo....and I will work on a restoration over time that uses only original elements as drawn with out cloning.

Try posting your question here: WhatTheFont Forum : MyFonts

Closest I've been able to find is Bodoni Classic Hand Drawn (bold/italic) based on the letters CRiv.

Did you find it Mark? I probably have it and can't get to it, as I have thousands of fonts stored on zip disc from taking Typography in school. (This !@#$ Vista won't recognize my discs).

It reminds me of: "Century" and "Calligula" (how appropriate, huh?), but as a fellow Romie might I suggest you check out "Felix Titling"? It would look crisp and somewhat close. FT just looks Roman. *G*

Thirteenth!!!
