The desperate need to abolish Celebritydom
With the political debates now underway for the 2008 presidential election, there is alot of talk circulating about who is 'representing our best interests'. I proclaim that it is not 'representation' that is needed, it is communication. But communication only seems to happen within restricted circles of one type or another, be it political, economical, ethnic or the divide between what we define as 'celebrity' and normal, every day people.
Looking at the world from an anonymous perspective it strikes me as completely inhumane and uncompassionate for there to be such a thing as celebritydom in the first place. This divide that is programmed into people to either worship or be worshiped is the # 1 social plague that stunts communication in the united states of America and Europe. This divide is also largely responsible for why the political system and society in general will not budge forward, evolving, per force, via natural psychological and philosophical process. We are being held hostage by this artificial state of divide that is perpetuated between people of different so called social ranks. What we need to do, beginning right this moment, is abolish this divide by declaring that an actor, singer, politician, professional athlete, writer is no more important in their function than a sanitation worker, plumber, mechanic, physician, teacher or any other profession and to henceforth demand that celebrities receive mandatory pay caps which will serve to bring them into the realistic world of having to live more modestly and according to a 'cost of living' diagram just like everyone else does. In fact what we truly need to do is concede the fact that each and every individuals job in this society is of equal importance when it comes to holding together the fabric of said society, including, but definitely not limited to entertainment workers. And in this concession we should demand that each and every worker of this so called civilized community get paid a uniform wage for a uniformly important task. Psychologists, dentists, garbage men, sanitation workers, singers, dancers, actors all should make the same uniform annual wage, which could conceivably be no less than 300,000$ and no more than 1 million USD. In this way the false barrier between people can crumble down and we can get on with communication and the hopeful subsequent result of such communication, social evolution. I don't respect Angelina Jolie anymore than I respect the guys who pick up my garbage every monday night, nor the people who sell me my wine at the liquor store, nor any other perceived menial job in society. It is time we recognize the blunder of our ways as a society, stop worshiping other's or wanting to be worshiped by other's, completely do away with the notion that some are more exceptional or special than other's, learn to look one another in the eye, communicate and move forward as a working societal unit. This is pathetic people, and it's the number one reason why the basic structure of society hasn't changed in hundreds of years, and why it won't change till we completely destroy the wall that exists between equally valid human beings who are fed the lie that one persons position is 'over here' while the other's is 'over there'. The world is a circle and we each occupy the same center of the same world and for the same purpose. To move forward. Now let's do it. |

Today it's celebraties, but in the past they were pharaohs. The trend of humans worshipping and idolizing other human beings is an old one.

We can't communicate in isolated circles anymore, the world is too complex for that. The fabric of the world suffers when you use high quality materials for one corner and low grade for another, it ends up uneven and ugly, not to mention essentially useless.
