I usually address the gay issue in context of the military as my first experience was in a isolated hostile region (Saudi), very small community and I was unexpectedly put in a compromising position. If I had known he was bi and attracted to me I would not have accepted the assigned living quarters - just like I would not have accepted quarters with a strange woman. I do have issues with systems that do not allow individuals to make choices and move on with their lives. Symbols such as flags and banners form a lightning rod for conflict. People are people the claim of "no blood" just needs some time.
