Bullshit. Its the story because he was dumb enough to say the way to fix things is to slow the economy. Whether he went on to say we can't do it is irrelevant. It was a moronic thing to say during an election where many exit polls are showing that the number one issue on people's minds is the economy.

This is a see through story. No real story at all here. This is just an excuse by the right to keep Bill Clinton in the news in a negative light.

LastStand made the post by believing that just making the statement in itself was wrong, but in fact it is the right time for it.

We are at the end of a long period of Republican rule and it is time to hear what the Democrats think now.

There is no chance that his words will cause our market to melt down or people to start hording thier money. People are smarter than that. Nothing wrong with what he said as far as I can see.

Edit: Yes I realise nothing is set in stone for the Democrats winning, but....I am very optimistic about it.

The same with the "Fairytale" comment, taken out of context. Jesus christ, you know people should be able to follow more than one sentence at a time and if we can't anymore, we are all fucked. that's why there is paragraphs. If it is down to a soundbite, and only a soundbite, we'll never get a decent leader ever again.

Soundbites have little to do with why we will never have a decent leader. But that's beside the point.

I agree that his fairytale remark was taken out of context, but that can't be blamed on republicans. And while this newest one may be pushed by the right, it was still an incredibly stupid thing to say. Especially linking it to global fuckin warming. This is politics, you have to choose your words carefully. For fuck's sake, this is the guy that had to make sure the proper defintion of "is" was being used. He made an incredibly stupid statement to pander to the liberal left and he deserves to be mocked for his horrific timing. This is Bill Clinton, he should have known better.

Oh. Well, I can't be blamed for that. He doesn't much like me. Seems I'm too vulgar.

Not exactly. I think the timing was wrong. I think it was politically ignorant. And I think of all people, Clinton should have known how such a statement would be used.

"Democrats" and "think" in the same sentence, now I've seen it all.

Heh, sorry that was bad. Yes, I am indeed Last, feel free to call me Frank. I'm at a loss here, I don't know who everyone is over here.

But back on topic, sorta, I do think, as things stand now, the democrats are going to win this election. As dumb as Clinton's statement may have been, the republicans look likely to nominate McCain. Romney has been trashing him for not knowing shit about the economy. Way to hand the democrats their best talking point ya moron.

The election will boil down to economics and McCain doesn't inspire any confidence there, not that Romney does either. The only question is whether it will be Obama or Clinton kicking the shit out of Johnboy.

You know me from the HBO site.....you can call me Mark.

The way things are going I would have to agree with you about McCain, but there are many here that believe that McCain could still win with a Hilary ticket. I don't, but some do.

As for Bill Clinton.....I really do think the media is trying too hard to keep him in the spotlight and put attention on him. Perhaps they hope it will make Hilary look bad. It's worked pretty well these last few weeks, that's for sure.

I'm with you, Hillary wins this fight easy. First, the democrats have already started pointing out that McCain isn't much of a republican. How many bills can one guy possibly co-sponsor with liberal democrats before people realize that he is a liberal dem?

Then there is the war issue where McCain tried getting back in the good graces of the right, and put off many indies in the process. Add in his lack of knowledge on the economy and the simple fact he is so old he makes Hillary look kinda young and its a recipe for defeat.

Well, when every high profile dem in the nation is whining about Bill, what do you expect the media to do? Even Reid had to get in on the action. As much as anyone wants to blame the right for the attention, the dems are doing this to themselves.

Fact is, many democrats never liked Clinton. People tend to forget that he was not the party favorite leading into 1992. He won despite the party leadership. And a lot of folks in the party don't like that they had to take a back seat to the country bumpkin. Or that he reshaped the party all the way up to and including the DNC chair.

This is old school democrats vs Clinton democrats. My money is on Clinton.

Since when did you become a fan of Bill's? He's been making a lot of stupid mistakes lately. The first was helping his wife try to win the White House. He should have gone a 6 month Asian tour or something.
