Meds are a necessary evil for some of us. High BP also runs rampant in my family. One BP med won't take care of it. Color me a pill popper.
What's funny about some meds is that just because you are family and have a hereditary disease the same Meds may not work equally the same for siblings. Indocin is what most of my family take for Gout (including myself) but my sister was put on it and she had a bad reaction. Made her swell up badly.....the opposite of what it is intended for.

I remember before I got sick, I hadn't been feeling too well for several months. Nothing to put my finger on, nothing to take a pill for, just icky. Then one morning I awoke to find I couldn't make it down the stairs. It was downhill from thereon, with no turning back. We just never know what will happen to us.
I agree Cookie. Bill's been lucky to be in good health but his tune might drastcially change if he were to become ill.

He's correct in saying that we live in an over medicated society, but it's not a black and white, all or nothing issue. And of course certain meds like antibiotics and pain killers are way over prescribed but it doesn't mean those meds and others don't have their place.

Yes, and people will choose their loved one over the experimental monkey. I myself take diabetes medication and valium for my stomach which helps me keep my chocolate milk down. I started a thread about the monkey being boiled. If we are gong to test them, then at least get a program going to prevent abuse by workers. These industires will not go away overnight. People buy their products everyday and if there is a chemical in it, you know it will be tested on animals first.

Yes, the same thing happened to me. Every body reacts differently with medication, products, and food.

Illegal to test on humans first... Animal testing is a must.

Yes yes, you are right. RLS can sometimes lead to this shit I have...peripheral neuropathy (nerve damage). It ain't funny when you hurt so dang bad you want to cry...a person will pop anything to get some relief, and won't think twice about it.

Animal testing might just be a must, but there should be better safety precautions. Or, start testing on death row inmates. Why not let them contribute before they go?

I hope he doesn't get sick, but I don't want him tempting fate either. Scares me.

Very true chambers. Sometimes we just don't have a choice.

Absolutely....I didn't peek at your thread because I didn't want to get upset. I'm an animal lover too, and I hate it when we hurt God's creatures. But having said that, if it wasn't for the sacrifice of animals, we wouldn't have some of the beneficial meds we have today...meds some folks can't get along without. It's sad that we get sick, and sad that animals have to suffer to test the drugs. Double edged sword.
