Real Time -- 3/21

Melissa Harris-Lacewell kicked everybody's ass -- including Barney Frank, who is turning into a pompous ass in front of my eyes.

Here are two clips of Harris-Lacewell from Bill Moyers Journal.

On race and politics, from May, 2007:
Bill Moyers Journal . Watch & Listen | PBS

And on Katrina from August, 2007:

Lastly, here is Harris-Lacewell's web site / blog:

I saw the show and thought the same, however, I also thought she was arrogant. I did not like the PJ segment.

The satellite interview was the best part of the show.

The satellite interview was another instance , like the one with PETA moonbat Newkirk , where Bill just sat there and didn't call that asshole from CNN on his worst case scenario doom and gloom bullshit about what could possibly happen when U.S. troops leave Iraq ! All of a sudden Iran will take over , people will be slaughtered in the streets , all the other mid-east countries will get involved , oil exports will stop causing sky-high prices and shortages , and terrorist attacks will commence en masse on the U.S . ! I thought I was listening to war-mongering propaganda from someone in the Bush admin . How the fuck does this guy know , because he happens to be there ? He's fucking guessing and Bill should've called him on it !

Like it or not Michael Ware has been reporting with reasonable accuracy throughout the war, even to the detriment of Jr.'s arguments. Iran already has a lock onto what goes in in Iraq whether we leave or stay. That much is clear. And, unless we decide to call that which is a fact about Muqtada al-Sadr [that he's an agressor who should be arrested and his militia disbanded, he'll continue to do as the Iranian government demands of him.

Of course she's arrogant. What professor isn't?

Maybe if Barney Frank would've trip over his tongue when trying to form a coherent sentence they wouldn't lose patience with him.

As to the ineffectual "effort," such as it wasn't, by house democrats to get relief to New Orleans maybe if they took their argument to the public and shamed the republicans for voting down the legislation he himself wouldn't be lumped in with the rest of congress who abandoned the victims of Katrina.

Especially the look she gave Bill Maher when he said he was glad there was a woman to discuss Spitzer's whore hunt.

Yeah...not quite the subject of discussion at PolySci department cocktail parties at Princeton, I'd guess.

He did paint an accurate portrayal of the war from the soldier's point of view , I'll give him that . But reporting accurately and predicting the future are two different things . Obama was just on CNN saying he'll end the war because it's the right thing to do and will make the country (the U.S.) safer in the end . But it will take years to pull out the troops , hell it took close to two years to pull out troops and equipment from the Gulf War which was over in a matter of months . And on the other side is McCain who wants to build permanent military bases in Iraq and never leave . I was against this war from the start and saw Saddam as a tyrant , but a useful tyrant whose iron rule kept his own people from each other's throats and Iran somewhat in check . Even the Israelis said the U.S. was planning to invade the wrong country with Iran being the bigger threat . But there was all this oil there and Saddam tried to kill Bush's daddy and ..well you know the rest .
