Again and Again and Again
Again and again and again, we repeat ourselves. We say the same shit. We do the same shit. And then we reiterate.
My son attended the laboratory school of the Graduate School of Education at UCLA for eight years. "Pre-K" and Kindergarten and...well, in non-nurturing how-are-you-feeling-over-what-have-you-learned schools, you'd say Grades 1 through 6. Not so simple in Quasi Enlightened cum Politically Correct developmental-slash-academic environments.
Some great and not great things come out of places like that. A not great thing? I was told that in some two year period that thankfully did not include my son, "they" theorized that long division was being taught in the wrong year, so they shifted the curriculum and taught long division one grade later for one year. They decided they were wrong and shifted it back to its usual year for instruction. Laboratory = experiments. One class of kids was on the verge of graduation before everyone realized that they had never learned long division at all.
A great thing? The student body population is meant to fairly accurately mimic the population of Los Angeles. The works. Those kids graduate unencumbered by stereotypical thinking, bedrock to prejudice, and free from fear.
Where was I going?
Ah. Repeating patterns. They learned about repeating patterns by designing and drawing them, with numbers. When I get home, perhaps I will remember to scan such a piece of the art that is prolific in touchy-feely-not-in-the-pedophile-way developmental-slash-academic environments. All students should have art and music in their early education, not just rich kids and specially chosen kids many of whom, incidentally, attended on scholarships funded by the rich kids' parents.
Repeating patterns. I am running chronically behind, and that's not good.
Politicians lie, and that's not good.
Our elections would be a joke if it were funny, and that's not good.
Our government is of connivance, for the few, on the backs of the many. SO not good.
AGAIN, we're just going to go along with it? They are conducting the whole business of politics the EXACT same way...albeit substituting "change" and "can" for "two chickens" and "two cars"...and we're gonna line right up and go along? AGAIN?!
