Disposable people - how the attorneys get over.

Posted 04-07-2008 at 04:09 PM by jowey
Girlfriend just discovered that her attorney did not file the settlement papers back in 1994. Supposedly my girlfriend was awarded half her ex's retirement when he retired. This will be considered strategy and beyond the limitations of representation. At the time we thought that this attorney was a good one, but did get concerned when they dropped the "abuse of process" action, leaving us with additional doctors bills and wondering why they dropped it. Just remember the threat from the husbands attorney to destroy us.

So in total for eighteen years of abuse, stalking, assaults she got around $6K and lies from her attorneys. The children were messed up with the alleged incest and negligence after the divorce was won. So much for the law and diligent attorneys - but this is good strategy.

Well if I were you I would be filing a new lawsuit under Federal Rule 11 for sanctions or its state equivalent. I am surprised the court didn't raise it. Probate is filled with scumbags, I would never dirty my hands with that work. I am sorry your experience was so negative. I hope you don't judge the entire profession by this one individuals failures.

Many of us work very hard to change the reputation of our profession. It continues to be a futile quest when people like that are still in good standing. I don't know much about Virginia but what I do know is their reputation is less than sparkling in the area of legal ethics. It's where all the people who cannot pass the Maryland bar go.

Think she has one more year before the jerk can retire. Fed up with the seventeen years she called someone in the courts and they responded with that little tidbit.

Glad to know about that option, little concerned about obtaining competent counsel in this State though.
