2008 - Thought I'd Never See Ya!

2008 – I never thought I’d see you. I suppose that there are a lot of people that can say that. Unfortunately, there are many who can’t. Among those that can’t are the old. Those whose bodies have worn with age and have finally given up. We all die, the questions is when. And why. People die from natural disasters, “acts of God” those so inclined call them. As long as people like to live on mountainsides and coastlines, Mother Nature will remind you of her presence. Not that the flatlands are any safer, with flood or tornado. A whole economy has arisen to profit from this. Re: Katrina.
Then there are accidents. Too numerous to list, humans have made an industry out of cheating death. Bungee jumping, paragliding or whatever the current rage of adrenaline junkies are doing. Included here are the car accidents. Tens of thousands die every year from vehicular induced death. Some people are innocents and others are perpetrators, but in the end dead is dead.
Next come all the diseases out there. There are books filled with those horrible little nastys that House, M.D. so knows by heart. And here is where we get into the crux of it. Some afflictions are not yet cured or even known. Others can be treated but not cured, much to the delight of the pharmaceutical industry.
Then we have crime. Thousands die every year from crime. Murders, robberies gone bad, shoddy workmanship where profit won out over code, there are lots of crimes that take human lives. Malpractice may occur and not be a crime or it might. But that a child dies because of an insurance company’s profit driven decision isn’t a crime, is one. Against humanity.
So that leaves us with the 1014 American soldiers who gave their lives this year for the failed policies of an inept leader and his criminal cohort. Men and women, sons and daughters sacrificed for an opportunity for profit and an arrogant plan for world domination propagated by a few powerful or well-placed men. Make no mistake, history will judge this administration as the worst, most corrupt in the litany of inept and corrupt presidencies.
The question is not who to blame, we all know who to blame. And I hope you people that voted for that retard and his criminal cohort have learned your lesson and will vote more responsibly in the future. The question is what do we do to fix this mess. Senor Bush and crew are heading to Paraguay when the real shit hits the fan, so we are on our own kids.
First and foremost the entire past eight years, with few exceptions, are to be stricken from the collective memory. Not the lessons learned, nor the sacrifices endured by such a noble and treasured minority as our service families. But what this man and his accomplices have done to this once great nation must be overturned.
The rest of the world won’t give us a “do over”, but we certainly can be kind to ourselves and erase this madmen from our national psyche can’t we? I mean we’ve been selfish and a glutton of resources and a general pain in the ass to just about everyone, but if we are nice to ourselves maybe we be nice to everyone else.
Happy New Year.

I have little faith that we'll be getting out of Iraq anytime soon. The money behind Bush/Cheney Dynasty (more like Diebold, think voting machines) is still very much in power and will remain that way.
