Are Democrats Defeating Themselves - Again
Are Democrats Defeating Themselves - Again
I know you are but what am I?
WHAT THE HELL are we doing? Democrats are going after each other like it was Gore v. Bush Round II. It's the stupidest, most self-destructive, petty, childish, nonsense I've ever seen. The Democratic party is going to collapse under the weight of the massive amounts of bullshit the Obama and Clinton campaigns are shoveling on to each other. This self-destructive mauling is bad for the party and for the country, and the Republicans are sitting back, gleefully snickering at our repeatedly punching ourselves in our own faces like brain-damaged monkeys - as usual, we're playing right into their hands. Our own stupidity is their one shining hope.
It's almost as nasty as - no it's nastier than anything from the 2004 election. Obama does a little coke as a kid, and he's a drug dealer, and every person who isn't for Obama is Hillary's evil minion. We're swift boating OURSELVES! I bet Karl Rove is sprouting joyful daisies out his ass! We sure are living up to the stero types: Republicans are rotten, and Democrats are stupid. Rotten beats stupid every time.
When we talk about THE ISSUES, we gain support from Independents and dissatisfied Republicans, but if we keep throwing feces at each other, they'll turn away in disgust. I'm about to turn away in disgust. Heck, their messages are all basically the same, with the exception of Edwards, who has some ideas on lobbyists and reform that resonate with me, and Biden, who I find the most sincere.
So, why is this happening? The Media? They're "reporting" on this election like it's the Paris Hilton saga. Edward R. Murrow must be doing cartwheels in his grave. It's time we stop being led around by this self-interested, money-grubbing, bunch of ratings whores! Voters have got to demand more from the media than infotainment, and more from the candidates, particularly in an election this crucial.
It's not entirly the media though. We've all become so bitterly polarized under Rove's master plan that we're doing it to ourselves now, and the Bush Admin. lied and manipulated the truth for so long, we don't even remember what truth or facts are. Instead, we seem hopelessly trapped in the wildly speculating/conspiracy mode.
We're dragging each other through the mud so viciously that even our revered Bill Clinton is now covered in gook made up of petty, meaningless fodder.
We have a menu with an array of fine candidates to choose from, and all we seem able to do is fight about the options. At this rate, we'll still be arguing and starving while the Republicans run off with the country again. As for me, I'd like a little sanity please, and some integrity on the side.

Good post, Teri. I do agree that things have gotten really ugly with this whole thing. I also think we'll find our common goal once the nominee has been selected, then we'll all be banded together against the other side.

A SEELCTED "nominee" seems to be the key term, public will be damned.

Good rant, Teri. If you recall, I lost my faith in politics and our government's "business as usual" way of running things quite some time back, and the recent chapter in American politics is but another turd in the overflowing punchbowl. The problem with politics is politics. The problem with politicians is that they are politicians. I hope I am wrong, but we seem to be at the beginning stages of going the way of the Roman republic ourselves.
You hear people say if you don't vote then you shouldn't complain, but I may not vote this year. I am sick and tired of choosing between the lesser of a dozen evils. This country is going straight to shit and no one in government seems to give much of a damn, on either aisle. My disgust for the Democrats has forced me to change my voting status to Independent. |

I'm really happy with the democratic nominees, with the exception of the sniping - that turns me off. I'm extremely hopeful that they can right the ship, but who knows.
Well, Mike - since you're voting as an indepedent now, if you go Republican, you and I will officially cancel each other out. ![]() |

The Dumbocrats will continue to lose because they have no substance. Instead of developing a congitive program for government, their two frontrunners rely on slogans like "Its Time For a Change"...Instead of saying something concrete, they wax Kerryesque and simply say "I wouldn't have done that"...
Both frontrunners are becoming desperate, as is evidenced by their mudslinging. Quite franky, I find both of them pitiful. |

Yeah, I'm pretty sick of the word "change" myself. EVERY ELECTION IS ABOUT CHANGE.
At least their policies aren't all about running up debt, enriching their cronies, raping civil liberties, nation building, incompetence, and pissing all over the Constitution. The Repuklicans have that all wrapped up. |

If by "running up debt" you mean issuing the second tax rebate in 7 years, you're right.
If by "raping civil liberties...and pissing all over the constitution" you mean ensuring our safety in the face of terrorism, and defeating those who use our freedoms against us, you're right... If by "enriching their cronies" you're referring to Halliburton, I have to ask you - what other company is equipped to perform the services in Iraq that Halliburton did? Give me an alternative to it. |

1. IRAQ, you know that war we were conned into, how much debt do you think we ran up there? Hmmmmm?
2. "They that can give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." We needed better security, not less liberty. 3. THE MILITARY. For centuries they've provided their own support services. They are self-contained, and can hire their own cooks. I was born on a military base, was in the USAF myself, and my Dad and 4 brothers all were too. Now we pay Halliburton $45 for a case of Coke, and that's one of the cheaper items. It's God damn bullshit, and we all know it. Blackwater, Halliburton, all of them, war profiteers like Bush's grandfather was in WWII. And we're footing the bill for this misguided adventure and all those who're enriched by it with their no bid contracts. Soulless monsters. http://www.publicintegrity.org/wow/bio.aspx |

Now you've changed course...
Iraq - stopping the slaughter of millions of people by their own leader requires a con job? Let me guess - "Bush lied, kids died" ---give me a break... Is this from the same sect of people who screamed bloody murder about racial profiling? Exactly what "essential liberty" have you lost? I sure haven't lost any. This is probably the weakest arguement - that military base you were born on - is it still functioning, or was it the victim of BRAC under Clinton or GWB? Are you going to sit there and tell me there were NO civilians working on your base while you were in the USAF? Civilian contractors are being used in a support capacity because the military is downsizing in number and going more hi-tech. You fail to factor the cost saving created by NOT having to train personnel to deliver that $45 case of coke. By the by, in case you didn't bother to check, Halliburton is operating at a LOSS in Iraq, so your claims of cronyism and profiteering are not well thought out. ![]() |

Please - there are MILLIONS OF PEOPLE DYING IN N. KOREA, DARFAR, and half a dozen other nations. I'd rather have spent my tax money freeing women from oppression in SAUDI ARABIA. You know, the country were most of the 9/11 high jackers came from. Sadam's Iraq looked like a picnic compared to that hell hole.
Yes, the base is still open, and after my Dad retired from the military he was civil service, doing the same job. Halliburton is operating at a loss. ![]() Now you're just making shit up. I appreciate the comments, but I seriously don't see the point in debating when you're obviously living on another planet. |

When you get to make the decisions, you can send the military where YOU want. The tired old claim that the 9/11 hijackers came from Saudi Arabia is just that - tired and old. They had Saudi passports - this doesnt mean they were Saudi's. Further, tell the hundreds of thousands of Iraqi's who RISKED THEIR LIVES to come out and vote, despite the threat of insurgent reprisals, that Iraq under Saddam was better - I'm sure they'd laugh at you.
The very fact that your father did the same job as a civilian that he did as a member of the military contradicts your own assertion that there was never civilain support until this administration....I guess only NOW it's wrong. Do a little research - Halliburton's operations in support of Operation Enduring Freedom are losing money - don't take my word for it, read something besides the liberal pablum you suckle on to feed your misguided hatred. Your final remark is so sadly typical of the liberal mindset that it's pathetic. It's the equivalent of putting your fingers in your ears and saying LALALALALALALA - if you don't want a response, don't post such silly blogs. MY planet is called "Earth" - you should visit sometime. |

Civil Service is NOT the same as civilian contractors. My Dad didn't make 10 times what he did in the military.
This is all so pointless. I have a brother just like you I can argue with, and he at least attempts to back up his wild ascertions. |

So now we have hit the root of the problem - Daddy didn't make enough money, and I remind you of a sibling.
I guess that justifies the cheap shots you've been taking at me. Let me guess - "Mom liked him best" Its sad, really - I guess you posted a blog simply for the attention. |

So typical of a liberal - can't debate an issue, so you resort to name calling...and you wonder WHY you people can't win an election...
To keep this on YOUR level, I'll respond with "Oh yeah? - YOU are a pottymouth!" Did I remind you of your brother again? |

You are an ass.
It's pointless debating anything with an irrational person. Tax rebates?!?! Gimme a fuckin' break. Those weren't shit and they did exactly what they were meant to do. Make you feel like you got a piece of the pie. The reality is that this administration spends worse than Reagan or any Democrat in history. They will "give" this multi-trillion dollar debt to the next administration to deal with so they don't have to face the music and pay for it. And it'll probably be a Dem admin and they probably WILL clean up the mess left by the neoconservative, anti-american, pro-priveledge CEO administration. It seems to me the only one who hates us for our freedoms is poeple of your ilk and the rest of the Republican party. As for you precious safety, remember what Ben said about giving up one for another. |

One more liberal who just can't resist starting a post off with an insult...
When one starts off with this, how can the rest have any true substance... I know that your memory is probably clouded by the glitter of the Clinton years, but if you consider spending on defense, and arming our military "too much" than there is really no sense even trying to debate with you. Lets talk freedom, though... How about the freedom of the unborn to SURVIVE? The freedom of people to be free of murderers and other criminals? The freedom to go to work WITHOUT wondering if the local authorities are doing EVERYTHING they can to prevent antoher 9/11? The freedom to celebrate Christmas WITHOUT having to go to court to do so? Freedom of speech? (not just for who the left SAYS should have it, but for everyone) Hate us for our freedoms? Please... If that, to you, is being an ass, so be it. I'll refer to the first sentence of this hideous blog, to wit: "I know you are, but what am I"... |

Yes, Hillary is again ruining the paty's chances again, just like she did in 2000 and 2004.
