Probably the same thing about our women protecting them.

There was a story awhile back about losing qualified, needed ppl
( translators, etc.)simply because of "don't ask don't tell"

It's criminal to fire ppl for sexual orientation in civilian jobs.
Why should the military be different, especially when it hurts their readiness??

Back in the day it was the military that was progressive.......

NATO does not have problems w/ the issue except the feedumb loving nations of usa & uk........ Who would of thunk it........

I use to have issues myself w/ it back in the day........ But as you pointed out this is a different day.... A different time........

They are our friends..... Our neighbors our work colleagues etc........

I understand that some still have some issues..... The rest of NATO seems to have been able to work it out why can't the usa & uk??

If I were a man, I would be gay.

addressing the topic, why would it matter if gays were in their community? who cares? i was a little uncomfortable when a gay gay gave me chocolates and asked me out once, but i didnt care that he lived in my building

I don't care. All I am saying is that I (not being part of the minority grp) would feel out of place at a all "gay" event. Therefore, I don't care if they march up to high heaven, get married, adopt kids, whatever. I just don't think I need to go to gay pride events to support equal rights.

A close friend of mine was a marine and he was bisexual, he got discharged when his CO found out. He was marine of the year and an all around great guy, he was very well liked. He sued the marines, they threw the "dont ask don't tell" bs in his face so he was discharged (as honorably as possible).

He can never go back. He is a lawyer now and fights for gay and bisexual rights.

This crap happens in the marines all the time, in the army you name it. Most people are smart enough to keep their "habits" to themselves. If your gay and in the military, your best bet is to not tell anyone, not even your closest friends, people blab. Military bases are like gossip camps.
