Pardon me, but bringing us back around to the thread topic, I am curious about something.

How does the gay community feel about the big, publicized gay pride parades in San Francisco and other large cities? Do they feel they help or hurt their....cause. I don't know that 'cause' is the correct word, but I think you all understand my meaning.

I know they absolutely rankle a lot of the homophobes...is that a part of the point?

Yes.
And if you're scared of the gay pride parades you should check out one of the multinational "Love Parades" that come around every city. Gay, Straight, Pan all doing very naughty things . I've never marched in one because I can't stand house music.

Edit: Cookie, I understand you're one of the few conservatives who don't hate homosexuals. Than why do you support Fuckabee? have you heard the things he's said about AIDS, and gays in general? It's not a jib just a general query.

Huckabee is very scary, this country would set itself back 60 years if he were to get elected.

You are right, I do love gay people. To know them is to love them...that has been my experience, without exception I might add. That having been said, I do know what most Baptist ministers think about homosexuality, because they derive their opinion about it from the Old Testament. I am also a Bible believer, but I prefer not to judge people. My interpretation of the Bible is to love thy neighbor, and judge not (Jesus commanded this). It really isn't my job to judge, afterall, but it is my job to love others, and both concepts are totally Bible based and totally New Testament. Do you see the difference?

Anyway, Mike Huckabee has said he won't let his religion interfer with his governance, and I believe him. I think his record proves his word is good, as it has been in Arkansas. My support for him has nothing to do with religion; it has everything to do with the fair tax and his adherence to his budget in Arkansas. He is able to control spending to the degree that the state now has a budget surplus, which he has proposed giving back to the taxpayers.

Elliot, I haven't heard anything about his stance on gays and AIDS. What do you know, and where did you get the info? I am interested to read about this.

You're right Cookie. To know gay people is to love them. I haven't met one gay person I didn't love. And I love their parades! Straight people in no way are that wonderfully creative.

You bet. But I do have reservations about the parades. I think they go too far sometimes, and end up looking ridiculous, which just fuels the homophobia out there. I don't want to see kind hearted, loving people look ridiculous. Do you see what I mean?

Okay well maybe Rudy isn't exactly kind hearted and loving.

He hasn't been Elmer Fudd in the debates either.
