I would have to agree. Classical conservatism advocates more individual freedom and LESS government intrusion. The control freaks who stole that mantle and brandish it about today are closer to being Fascists. The older, traditional concept of conservatism has gone the way of the office pneumatic tube and the dictation machine.

Yep I would pretty much agree w/ that.......... What is troubling is how much different that term........... That concept........... That ideal has be bastardized...

Now the term for most ppl calling themselves "conservative" means nothing like it did back then........ Eman was the only "conservative" willing to sac up & lay it out in the thread but I believe the issues he raised are the issues that today define that "movement"....

Keeping us safe from the latest bogey men: from the shores of Grenada to the streets of Panama City..... Fiscal irresponsibility & a sheepish adherence to a social agenda that has been dead for over forty years.....

Legendary american "joe sixpack" is told he "can not vote for any party that is not against abortion, gay marriage etc..." eventhough the party telling him that can do nothing to change it... Further more that party's real agenda is to undermine & subvert his union membership... His wage increase demands & possibly not only allowing but advocating his job be sent overseas........

But he must subvert his own self interest for those of the lofty & unattainable ideals.................... If that is not the ideal sheepl I don't know what is..........
