What is a conservative IYO?

The term has changed over the years & has evolved quite a bit since it was used thirty or forty some years ago...........

Does your definition allow room to acknowledge hypocrisy & or mistakes on the part of those that support that view/ideology if it can be called that...

I do not consider myself as a liberal although some of my views are perhaps liberal...........

I do consider myself to have some conservative views but I find the views of many conservatives to be inconsistent w/ the facts & many of the positions taken by them to be indefensible & destructive to this country........

Example that: war!!!!!

Can you be a conservative w/ your understanding & not support the invasion of other countries??

If it becomes evident or upon reflection you realize serious errors were made can you say as much or must you remain in denial & defend that which you know or @ least believe to be wrong or not in the best interest of the country...

If democrats are stupid for blindly following their leadership are republicans as well?? Conservatives as well???

Example that:Priorities........... Who gets to set them...... If an issue like abortion is not a priority but the priority (like it is w/ many) should this one issue compel them to betray their own self interest regarding other important aspects of life, country, planet etc.?? Especially considering how unlikely a change in that well occur.....

Unfortunately, the term, like Liberal has almost become an epithet. And then there are fiscal conservatives, social conservatives and finally, fascists in conservative clothing.

Well the Democratic Party should recruit more conservatives but that would involve changing some of their basic positions. Fundamentally on abortion and gay marriage.

War will always be with humanity. Humans like to fight, particularly the males. It will only get worse. But we have to get active if our homeland is attacked. Bush did that and we have not been attacked again. I live just outside Wash DC and am sensitive to being nuked. Maybe others are not so sensitive. I say the best defense is a good offense. Fucking liberals dont want to fight.

Goldwater was our last purist Conservative...until Ron Paul. Ron Paul is the only purist Conservative that I can think of.

(( I am not pro abortion but it has been law for a long time..... That IMO will not change.. The deal has been done......... I, like you am from the old school..... WHen it was not ok to be gay.... SInce then my opinions have changed......... They are going to get the marriage deal......... They don't have to do it in your church. They can have their own church or civil service........ Really there is no reason other than they are gay to prevent it........ I don't believe that is enough to deny them that right......... Conservatives enjoy educating people on the dangers of 'reality'. They tell us, "Vote for us, or you will die.". As soon as they leave the podium, they pray to a mythical creature of fiction. Are we sure people who believe fairy-tales should be teaching us about reality?
