I think he's likely CIA or a paid pundit like Hannity. He started the MIHOP circus to draw attention from what really happened.

like what they do with Area 51. The whole Alien thing is a story cooked up by military personel when the base opened up. It draws attention in a way, but it also serves as a psychological shield of sorts.

Perhaps if you put AJ away for a moment, don't focus on his stuff, but focus on what you don't know and what you do know vs. what you've been told. It's not a pretty picture.
