Friends and Family on the issue

I'm just wondering how many of you have friends or family that have firm beliefs in the subject, but disagree with you. How do you address each other?Obviously a lot of us here are somewhat passionate about these 9/11 conspiracy theories.

I have one very close friend who believes strongly in 9/11 conspiracy theories. When we first discussed it, he believed in CD's, missiles at the pentagon, etc. Now he only seems to believe stand downs and the "let it happen" theory. (He just couldn't argue against the hundreds of relevant experts versus amateurs routine... he he) But whenever we discuss the issue, it's a very lucid argument and neither of us get remotely angry. It's actually a pretty fun discussion.

I was once at a party with some accquantances and saw 3 people bitch at each other about these conspiracies for over an hour. I just stayed the hell out of it (which was really hard when the one guy started bringing up lies about nist not having access to any of the steel). What a party downer it was. But it was still relatively civil (compared to here).

I guess, from my discussions with people here, it's civil between me and Duvadoo (sp?) and sometimes with voodoo.
But often a lot of us resort to flat out shit slinging. I wonder why? Is it just the anonymity aspect?

Maybe the fact that you call anyone who questions what you put faith in 'crazy' and 'liars' - you know, like a RUDE BASTARD. Ya think that might have something to do with it?

I do with you, but not with Duvadoo. It could be that you're an ass, and he isn't.
It could be that you put words in my mouth, he doesn't.
Or it could be something else, who knows.

But I was just wondering in the thread if other people bring this up to people in real life, to friends and family, or is just their secret internet alter ego's that talk about it.

Of course - it makes for spirited lunch-time discussions. But I don't get into world affairs and politics with work associates, only friends and family.

I don't have an alter ego - do you?

Do you call your friends and family bushbots if they choose to believe experts instead of amateurs?

I already said I often talk about 9/11 conspiracies with one of my close friends.
So no, I don't have an alter ego.

Only the ones who defend Bush. Do you call your friends and family who disagree with you crazy liars?

Uh, didn't we cover this, Circus? There are experts on both sides of this argument - those whose positions support the Official version, and those who question it. It isn't 'experts vs amateurs'. See if you can remember it this time.

Everytime I bring it up to a friend, I get an instant eye rolling laugh

I was stopped at a red light, and my girlfriend saw a "9/11 was an inside job" bumper sticker on a light pole, and her reply was...(I dont discuss what we argue about here with her)

WTF!!..Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!..Oh Jesus, What next?

Which 1/3 of the country believes it was an inside job anyway?

All my friends when I lived in Korea were from all over the "english speaking" world (austraila, New Zealand, usa, england, South Africa, etc).
To teach english in Korea, you need to have a university degree.

Every single person I talked to about 9/11 conspiracies thought they were laughable. Anti-americanism was everywhere there, and many attributed the popularity of 9/11 conspiracy theories to how ignorant and uneducated most americans are. I'm not saying I necessarily agree, but it's definitely the vibe I got.

Ive found that when I have made political small talk with immigrants, whatever corner of the globe they may have come from, Ive usually gotten a fair assessment of the issues..For example, when Clinton was on the chopping block for a blowjob, I was speaking with a Portugese immigrant who was a net builder at the fishing gear chandelry, and he talked about how immaturely the U.S. was sensationalizing Clinton's affair..He made reference to the many world leaders who have has mistresses, Mitterand being one of them, and that people who live abroad simply dont make front page news out of these kinds of things..Ive found that foreign opinion is sometimes a fair measuring stick

I also do not agree that Americans are uneducated, but I do think that there are many issues that could be handled and viewed more realistically as well as more maturely
