A dictionary is a book full of definitions. They also have online versions of the same thing.
Pulverize means to turn stone like material into dust. That is what happened that day in Manhattan, and I wondered if you had an explanation as to how concrete could be pulverized into a fine dust by a gravitational collapse. The collapse of the buildings happened at free-fall rates. That is, the tops of the buildings reached the ground at virtually the same time as an object dropped through the air from that altitude would have reached the ground. Which is to say that the bottom two-thirds of the buildings offered the same resistance as air to the falling upper third. |

I think Brian may have slept in that morning. He seems to think there were still 30 stories left after the twin towers fell ... mmmm ... would that be 30 each or something like 16 for one and 14 for the other? So those photos of the firefighters amongst the rubble ... they were standing on the 30th floor? Wow! Or does he mean that only the top 17 floors of building #7 collapsed?

Are you telling me the every bit of the concrete in those two buildings was turned to dust? Every bit if it?

Looked like one of those tofu buildings (as they call them in China ... the ones that non Party hochos have to settle for). You'd think the WTC was made of better stuff....

Are you saying that ALL of the concrete in the building was pulverized into dust? If not, what percentage of it was? And why do you think that percentage is out of the ordinary? It's like TC said to you, this isnt all just common sense.........it can be pretty technical. And to just dismiss things like dynamic forces and kinetic energy, is just ridiculous. But I guess that's why you're not a structural engineer.

I very much doubt that if I were a structural engineer I would be shooting the breeze with Brian Wilbanks of the Internets.

So that settles it then. Thank you for proving my point.

Brian
A significant amount of the concrete in those buildings was pulverized. Enough to coat lower Manhattan with a dust in some places 4 inches deep. Enough to make a magnificent pyroclastic flow into the streets and the Hudson river. All those are filmed. And the dust just HAPPENS to contain chemicals that are ONLY the byproduct of thermite use. |
