Coincidence? I think not.

Columbia is the University and the District Of, ColOmbia is the South American country the US is currently defoliating in the name of the drug war. Gosh, it's great to be an american these days.

The Colombian military snookered FARC on this one. Dontcha know that those 3 gringos are glad to get the hell out of there.

Not a shot fired is what the TV said.

Spelling has never been my long suit, and spell check didn't help me a bit on that one. Thanks for the correction! Yes those folks are sure happy to get out of there... It looks like it was an amazing operation to be sure. If only Jimmy Carter could have done the same with the Iranian hostage situation. the world would be a much different place today.

Yes, and certainly one of the big differences was landing helicopters in desert sand, as opposed to lush tropical grass.

While I'm fairly certain the Colombian army had this plan in the works for a while, I can't shake the hunch that they might have rearranged the rescue to coincide with the arrival of McCain and his senior moment life line, Joe Lieberman. The whole thing smacks of a set up.
