What is there to think about?? The original idea of the flag is long gone. Like I said, it is only used today to incite people. The "tradition" use to be, you fight for your freedoms, then you can excersise them freely. But now, post 9-11, if anyone excersises their freedoms in a way that doesn't jive with the powers that be, you get persecuted. Not prosecuted, since they don't let suspected terror agents have a trial nor lawyer. If I DO burn a flag I'll have so called "patriots" calling for my head, like we've seen from Bornwhacked, and even yourself to a limited extent. Sorry, but this idea of "We fought to give you those freedoms! Don't you dare use them!" Utterly ridiculous.

There are many countries that allow and even encourage the burning of the American flag. I just feel you would be better suited in one of those hate America countries. You probably have no problem going to a cemetery and turning over tombstones. I just think we should respect respectable things such as the American flag. A lot of good men died behind that flag. I understand you hate and fear it.

I am not black. There are many black people that I know, some of which are my friends. Very few of them think of the noose at all as it has been talked about since the Jena 6 thing. What I was attempting to compare to you so you would understand is that the noose is a symbol to a small minority in this country of discrimination and hate. You feel it should be a capital offense to create and hang a noose. The flag is a symbol to the vast majority of Americans that represents many great things about this country and the sacrifice of the military men. You have no problem trashing it. Did everyone see the liberal speak of me trying to spin something when there was no spin at all.

Giving you comparable examples is hardly spinning but hey you can say what you want. You can even continue to disrespect the flag, by law. I bet your dad cries over your belief as I know I would be ashamed if one of my children felt such disrespect for what that flag represents.

The flag is a symbol only and is not more sacred than the people of this country.

You try very hard to create a new meaning to the flag that would be used against those that choose to use the symbolic act of it's burning. While you rail about the flag the country is falling into the hands of traitors!

You are apart of the problem if you can't see that.

I have never burned the flag but can't see outlawing it.

My dad was a Vietnam Veteran and he died twelve years ago, so don't you even think about trying to speak for him. I forgive your foolish response.

I was also a vietnam vet and I will speak for your dad. If he saw you burn the American flag he would be disappointed.

And for the record we were not referring to the burning of torn or worn flag that needed to be disposed of. The thread was speaking of burning the flag in some kind of a odd liberal protest.
