Year end madness at work - Suggestions for not killing people?

Man oh man oh man! This end of the year, everyone running around like crazed, hyperactive, retards is about stretched my capacity to keep from murdering people to the limit. I know most places are like this at the end of the year, trying to wrap things up before the Holidays, before year end, but GOOD GOD, WTF?

So, anyone got any tranquilizers, weed, meditation chants to share?

Here's a good meditation one:

Guided So Hum Mantra Meditation Technique: Follow the step by step guided meditation below to practice this technique.


1. Sit in a comfortable cross legged position. You may also sit on a chair or lie on your back to practice this meditation.

2. Set your alarm or other time device for 10 to 20 minutes.

3. If sitting, elongate your spine upwards, lengthen your neck and subtly bring your chin back and in, like a soldier at attention. This will align the spine with the back of your head.
4. Place your hands in Gyan Mudra (Gesture of Knowledge). Which is thumb and index finger lightly meeting, wrists resting gently on the knees and palms facing upward. The other 3 fingers are extended.

5. Take 5 deep, slow breaths though the nose. This will oxygenate your blood and relax you.
6. Try to remain as still as possible.

7. Inhale slowly while saying the sound "Soooooooo" mentally and then slowly exhale while silently saying the sound "Hummmmmm".

LOL! I love the title of this thread...

When I'm ready to strangle people at work, I try to remember that it's not my "time" when I'm there, it's the company's - and they're paying me to be part of the team. Liking everybody isn't required - tolerating and working with them IS.

Luckily, we have a great atmosphere here and a lot of free rein - but it still happens. A quick walk outside around the building helps, too.

when i worked for GTE directories (where people REGULARLY had nervous breakdowns on the job) the "screaming golf ball" was always a hit at such times.

you throw it (it was soft - so you didn't break things) and it "SCREAMED" for you! amazing how cathartic it actually was.

i use that meditation a lot. it DOES really work. it's just not quite as FUN as a screaming golf ball!

What's a screaming golf ball? Never heard of it.

But teri - you have to sing or say the word "hummmmmmmmmmm" as you're exhaling all the way down til your breath is gone, (not just in your head - I started doing it wrong before).

Girls - Oh this is the best thing, but out of all the exercises I've ever done, this just makes you feel wonderful. It's called Tantric Toning, if you go to amazon and punch it in, its around $4 for a tape. What it is, is a series of movements you make with your arms and body. It combines yoga, tai chi, chi kung, but it's very easy

it takes about 50 minutes, then a 10 minute color meditation after that. After you do it, you feel so good.

I can't get the link to work, and my mom's coming over today, so I have to go. But get that tape!!! You wont regret it.
