For me, the word 'sponge' will be forever branded with Elaine's

sponge crisis on Seinfeld, and that I had the same reaction

when I found out they had stopped making them; of course

I hadn't stocked up.

Billie is now selling an onion slicer--it does look dandy.

But the best part is how incompetent they make people

look in the beginnings of these commercials:

the food processor is too hard the assemble and clean--both
stages take 5 seconds unless you are trying to do it with just your tongue

and the other incompetent, is crying over onions--refrigerate them.

Heh! "Billie Mays, here!"

Was watching BBC America (Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares -- most excellent!)

Who'd have thought there is a Brit version of Billie Mays -- hawking some super scrubbee whirlie brush thingie.

I was just thinking that. There's a commercial for this steamer thing that irons clothes. The woman almost killed herself setting up an ironing board which collapsed 3 times and when she finally got it set up she burned a big hole in the cover.
But she managed to set up the much more complicated steamer in 5 seconds.

Guess what the inventor's name is? Tobias. You never would have guessed it.

Kodak Printer

we're handling a new product -
the Kodak home printer/ color photo printer/ and fax.

It's a really nice product.
comes with paper - and the inks are pigments instead of dyes.
so there is no fading, even in sunlight

There is nothing wrong with selling them,

they usually are very practical products.

If I could think up a few, I'd market them too.

It's just the commercials that are funny
and I wonder 50 years from now, what people
in space will think. I read that right now
they are seeing I Love Lucy.

Yeah that ironing board one is good--but those
boards are a pain in the ass. I just don't iron
things anymore. I line dry and take my lumps
or else put them in the dryer for 5 minutes
and they are fine.

most are.
it's called direct marketing, where they ship from the factory, or more likely a distributor.
It saves having to retail it - but shipping costs are high.
