I find naps to be more energizing than sleep.

what does a dyslexic agnostic insomniac do all night?

they lay in bed and wonder if there really is a dog.

i''m soooo lucky. i used to have a lot of insomnia - laying awake with a mind that won't shut the fuck up!

but then i stumbled across two things that worked like MAGIC for me. i think it's the combination just knocks me RIGHT OUT!

one of them is what diane does. i put in a movie that i love, one that i love so much i don't mind seeing it over and over and over and i "watch it" with my eyes closed. 9 times out of 10, i barely make it through the first titles. i bet i've "watched" "born yesterday" with judy holliday close to a thousand times. i know all the dialogue by heart. poof! i'm out! i have a couple of other backup movies - the englishman who went up the mountain, and auntie mame. i imagine that the kind of movie i "watch" probably has something to do with it. action flicks probably wouldn't work as well.

the other thing i learned to do is kinda hard to describe.
it has to do with shutting your mind off and i think that's a key to the combination that works so well for me.

and at this point - about every two months or so - i'll have a night where i'm just WIDE AWAKE ALL NIGHT. when that happens i tend to just lay in bed watching movies and munching till around 4:30 / 5. but even when that happens, i still wake up without an alarm clock 6:30/7 ish, and it's no big deal because i always feel well rested.

Awsome song Lucy!
Mine comes from my diabetes insipidus. I only get 2 hours of sleep at a time, then have to get up, pee, rehydrate, take a shot, then try and fall back to sleep only to repeat it all over in another 2 hours!
