What are you thoughts on having your pic taken/published?

I don't mind when family or friends take my picture but I really don't like it when a stranger/journalist takes one without my consent. I'm not talking about accidentally being photographed or being in the background. I mean when I'm one of the main subjects or focal points.

I also don't like my picture being published on the web either. Recently, several pictures of me were taken so they could go up on the company website (it's nothing bad). I was asked first but I felt like I didn't have much of a choice and was asked in front of several others. I didn't actually say yes and made it clear that I wasn't really happy about that. I'm thinking of sending an email asking how and where those pics are going to be used because I don't want them on the web - especially if they come up in search engine results.

Am I just being neurotic or anal? Help me get some perspective please!

As a photographer and someone who has my picture taken I uderstand and repect your right and others rights to not want here picture taken. If anyone objects I delete it unless it is newsworthy or they robbed a bank but I try to ask if I can and if i can't I use " how would i like it to measure it".

My daughter and I go to this indoor inflatable fun park every once in a while. The place is so big that I lost her a few times (parents can play on those things too ) Anyway one time one of the owners snapped her pic without my knowledge. One day I had to go to their website and check their hours and low & behold...my daughter is on the front page! I called them up and bitched at them...and they took it down.

/ I don't blame them the kid is beautiful!
// pissed they didn't ask permission
/// even more pissed because it was a crappy pic with crappy composition!

and what WR said

Angry

One it's a kid and people are very protective of there children and next it's illegal to use someone image to advertise without a model release and especilly being given permission from the parents. What an asshole the owner was for doing that. Do they let you in free now? Also if they are going to use your muses image they might want to ask permission and give you some compensation.

I don't want anyone capturing my image in that little box, and putting it on paper. It's bad mojo. They can steal my soul.

One morning on the way to work some old guy I'm thinking late 60's or more] said he liked my hair and took a photo.

I don't take a good picture so it's a bit annoying. Thankfully people tend to only take my picture with me saying its ok and getting ready to strike a pose ... maybe that's why I don't take a good picture

I don't mind my friends or family taking my picture for the most part [Malky must never release what he has!], though published is another matter. Once I was in the park and a journalist was going around surveying 4th of July plans. She asked if she could take my picture and I declined. I think it has to do with becoming a memory of a loved one vs. a stranger...and I don't really care about the latter.

Ditch your job in that publicly or even privately held company and work at home. Stay off of an out of public places.
1. Anyone can use your image for "editorial" purposes, which includes company usage.
2. Unless you are a "private" individual, you have no real expectation of privacy while in public, in formal groups (including jobs), public events or even if you and your property/family can be viewed from public land.

Look at your employment contract. I'd warrant that someplace in the contract you agreed to publicity shots.

Of course, the obvious question(s) attend here too:
What do you have to hide?
What would happen if you refuse?
How good is you severance package?

Are you for real??

Sorry but none of that has any relevance to my situation.
