my vicious tom cat put some new holes in my leg 2 days ago, and it's alll swollen up.

It's so bad. that i got pains all up and down my leg.
can't even sleep.

So I took some Vicodin, and that helped with the pain, but I react to narcotics like it was speed.

so I'm up and getting ready to watch Morning Joe

I locked my keys in the car yesterday afternoon, and I had the window open a little more than a crack, so i had to push down on the window, and force my hand through the crack to get at the lock. Now I'm really feeling the pain in my arm. Im just glad I didn't get a bruise.

look CLOSELY for a red line going up your leg.
if you see one, go IMMEDIATELY to the doctor. your life is in danger.
especially if the line is getting anywhere NEAR your groin.
this is very very serious!!!!!!!!

CATS HAVE BACTERIA IN THEIR MOUTHS WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS IF YOU CAN'T GET PUNCTURE WOUNDS COMPLETELY CLEANED OUT. (and puncture wounds are VERY difficult to clean out thoroughly!) this bacteria is why most birds who are bitten by cats die, even if they survive the attack.

it is infected around the bite - redness and swelling.
but no lines up and down the leg.

I got a prescription for antibiotics ill fill today.

You scared me to death!!

Maybe if I were you, I'd have gotten the antibiotics sooner???....men.

well, antibiotics or not, please be sure to keep watch for a red line, even a pale pink line... because if you see one, you may need to be in the hospital for heavy duty IV antibiotics. many years ago, my father almost died when infection hit his groin - where it goes directly to your heart. he was in the hospital on an IV drip for almost a week!

i guess if you have a vicious cat, you might already know these things, eh?

Men!...and their reluctance to seek medical attention. I will never understand it.

...and this is NOTHING to mess around with!

i had a red line from a feral cat bite in hand my last summer going up my arm.

it petered out at my elbow, thank GOD! (i don't have insurance!)

the second i noticed it, i literally tore all the little punctures WIDE open (yes, it hurt like hell and i almost fainted a couple of times doing it) and scrubbed them with a scratcher pad, and started pouring peroxide in them about every 15 minutes. they bubbled up like crazy for a couple of days! but, LUCKILY that stopped it and saved me a trip to the hospital!
