weather thread...
well, looks like there's nothing on the horizon for snow in the coming days for southern wisconsin. just a light dusting in the forecast for tomorrow - no accumulation.
thank GOD!!!!! maybe my back will calm down before the next storm hits! now all i have to do is work on ice! the snow's been melting off the roof, (but there's still about 8" of it up there,) and dripping on my walks, and building up a very thick, very treacherous, sheet of ice - not to mention completely covering all my bird feeders. looks like i'll be chopping instead of shoveling THIS weekend. but if i work at it just a few minutes at a time, maybe i can clean it all up by monday without messing up my back further?

It snowed three inches here too last night. I'm getting used to it finally.

We got spizanked with a decent size storm just two days ago.
It hit at just the worst moment. But rookie Governor Deval Patrick made a huge mistake. He let out state employees early. Sounds like the right thing to do , but if it's not the right timing it can (and did) have devastating effects. The private sector takes its cues from the state, and often after the state releases employees it will "encourage" private businesses to do the same, to sound fair to the general public. Problem was the timing of the storm for an early release of all these employees in what is considered one of the worst traffic cities in the country, was not the thing to do. An early commuter gridlock was caused just as the plows should have been doing prep. The results was totally immobility in some areas. I got let off work 1hr early (3:30Pm) for an hour I waited in traffic, just to get out of the industrial complex where I am now employed (yes I'm changing carreers from construction to "something else"). I returned to work and put in 4 hours of O.T till 8:30pm and when I finally ventured to drive home, my normal 30-45 minute commute (under good conditions) took 2 1/2 hours. People who left earlier at 1:00pm (suites in the cubicles/offices) were on the on the roads for between 3 and 7 hours depending on their home destination. Cars that had run out of gas while waiting in traffic were abandoned. People abandoned cars and walked rather then sit for any longer. It was a complete mess. Another storm is coming in tonight, an icy mix type of affair, but no commuter s to worry about this time. Just the Jets vs. the Pats game that might be effected. |

![]() I hate to piss everyone off here, but it's about 75 degrees here in Alabama! I woke up, put on this big sweater with this matching scarf (very cute ), and went to the grocery store. I thought I might burst into flames! It was SUPPOSED be cold.![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Teri B.; 12-15-2007 at 02:37 PM. |

No wait, I'll catch the Bruins game tonight and take the "T" in so I can get drunk and not have to drive. Or a Celts game doing the same, the Pistons are in town Wednesday night. It's 3:31pm if I hurry I could go to the Museum of Fine Arts there's a great jewelry by artist exhibition this month, along with a fantastic collection of art. Hmmm I need to pursue an education........lemee think what sort of prestigious institute could I attend? Harvard, MIT, Wellesley, BC, BU, Tufts, NorthEastern, Berkeley School of Music. What if I wanted to send a child to the best possible school? I'd probably need to close to one of these two schools: Phillips Andover and Lawrence Academy Geez I dont' feel too good, where will my doctor send me? I dunno.... let's see what's to choose from: Beth Israel Deaconess, Brigham's and Womans, Tufts NewEngland Medical Center, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Mass General, Dammit I just check the BSO schedule Yo Yo Ma was here this month and I missed him. But after the holiday Pops schedule (which is nice to attend too) there's a Strauss and Mussorgsky performance. Too stuffy? The Dresden Dolls are performing at the Orpheaum Theater on Dec.29th. The Street Dogs are at the Roxy next week, that would be cool. Or maybe I'll go see BlueMan Group at the Charles Playhouse before they move to Vegas permanently . Links so you can intellectually salivate, you poor bastards: ![]() Roxy BSO M.I.T MFA BlueMan Group Harvard Phillips Andover Lawrence Academy Wellesley Mass General People don't live here because of the weather, they live here despite of it. That's how awesome it is to live here. I take it for granted sometimes till I read a post like yours. Maybe I'll just go hang out at Faneuil Hall tonight. |
