Support For Quitting Smoking

Hey all, I'm trying to kick the bad habit today. I could use all the help I can get. Suggestions anyone? I started this thread not only for me, but for those who are thinking about kicking the Butts, or in the process. So, bump this up. Smoking is a nasty filthy habit. I need to keep that in mind. So if you call me a "naughty" girl I won't mind! If I stray, or you suspect I stray, go ahead and give me one of these
Don't worry about me being grumpy. It's the habit getting to me is all. This is such a forgiving crowd to begin with. Thanks all.

Hi G-mom-

I quit about 8 years ago. I got REALLY sick due to food poisoning, and cigarettes made me sicker.

+ My wife was still smoking at the time, so I would get the wafte of smoke + just want to puke.

...after I got better, I retained the association of cig smoke to heaving my nuts up.

...that really made my quitting easy, + it wasnt long after that my wife quit too.

....buy lotsa gum. + GOOD LUCK!!

Just keep smoking that 'other stuff' and you'll be fine.

I quit 14 years ago..I had the patch on for about 10 days..On the 9th day I forgot to change the patch, and started feeling funky on the 10th day..Later that day I threw the patch away, and went through the physical withdrawals, but for some odd reason, I didnt go through the mental mindfuck..So consequentially, I didnt crave a cigarette, and I havent craved one since..That was the one time that I didnt go through the mental craving..All the other times I couldnt make it past noon time

Chew gum, hard candies, but dont smoke no matter what..It will all pass!

Best of luck!

Watch this disgusting New York City anti-smoking commercial over and over again.

I used the Nicotine gum and quit that way. I was smoke free for 2 years, then I got deployed to Iraq, where cigs were 25 cents a pack. 50 cents for the "premiums". Needless to say, I relapsed. By the time I came home from Iraq I was smoking 2 packs a day, more than I EVER had before. Since then, I tried the nicotine gum again, and had limited sucess. I still smoke. But only about 5 cigs a day. Quitting smoking is one of the hardest things a human can do.

I need to get the patches or something. I've been smoking since age 7, I know, I was a young hillbilly kid. Now I'm 45 and need to stop so i can breath better. Tired of waking up in the middle of the night having to use my nebulizer. It's the mental thing morethan the physical cravings. I got some Cinnamon sticks to suck on for the habit of hand to mouth thing. Good thing today. The stalker across from me is keeping his blinds closed. He got turned in to managment here. He's not supposed to be living here being convicted of murder. They didn't know he was even living here with his dad who is just as bad. It's the stress that makes it harder to quit. I got drunk with my neighbor last night after she came home and found her door knocked down! He seems to be going after people who visit with me. Freak!

I know some people who swear by "Chantix" as help to quit.
