You guys are making me homesick.
I grew up in a three story that my grandfather owned near Sheffield and Webster. The Ravenswood El would darken our kitchen when ever it went by.

Not much stays the same though. The Ravenswood isn't even the Ravenswood anymore, now it's the Brown line. I guess colors are easier to remember? Almost all of my favorite restaurants have closed now. There are still a few of those little hot dog stands that use steam tables. There's one still in business on Armitage and Western. Once that place closes Chicago has nothing left for me.

Tell me about it. My heart BROKE in '99 or '00 when I took the wife for her first trip there and that awesome steak-sandwich shop was closed in the triangle beside Wrigley! To top it off they closed it to put in a shop that made sandwiches out of bagels!

I must add that, and for a New Yorker, she's embraced Chicago and prefers it.

I'm ashamed to consider what I'd do for an Italian Beef, or a Vienna Red Hot, a Tamale Boat, or a pizza puff.....

It's a very cool picture. But yeah, I've seen some really awful things on that sidewalk.

Well PC,

Tix for that weekend (18-22) really SUCKED. SO I got tix next to the media booth for Tuesdays day game but I'm not sure if we can even stay for it. Bought them anyway; Mets... Johan Santanna possibly? The Monday game is at night and in Chicago so.... but I'm going to check if I can snag some for that one as well. There are always tickets to be gotten though I just wanted to get those Mets ones due to the crap selection online for that weekends games.

I believe, i took this pic about a week ago on somebody's request. haven't shaved in a while apparently, and clearly hung over.

Oh well, gin is a tough mistress. And the mirror needs cleaning, damn.

This is me from a year and a half ago... Less gin, and more upbeat too. University days.
