this american life

so, every friday night i leave work around 7, which is perfect because it coincides with my all-time favourite programme, this american life and i listen to it on my way home, usually i'm so engrossed in the stories that i sit outside in my car until it's over at 8 (my brother needed to use my car tonight otherwise i would still be there)...

at the beginning of the week, the website updates and you can listen to the episode from the friday before or the previous week, if you're so inclined...

not sure how many of you ever heard of this show, or listen to it regularly, but...ah heck, from the about the radio show section:

Quote:
One of our problems from the start has been that when we try to describe This American Life in a sentence or two, it just sounds awful. For instance: each week we choose a theme and put together different kinds of stories on that theme. That doesn't sound like something we'd want to listen to on the radio, and it's our show.

So usually we just say what we're not. We're not a news show or a talk show or a call-in show. We're not really formatted like other radio shows at all. Instead, we do these stories that are like movies for radio. There are people in dramatic situations. Things happen to them. There are funny moments and emotional moments and—hopefully—moments where the people in the story say interesting, surprising things about it all. It has to be surprising. It has to be fun.
the show is on your local npr station, if you end up getting hooked like i did and want to listen in real time....

This American Life On Showtime - Official Site of Showtime Original Series, This American Life.

the show is on your local npr station, if you end up getting hooked like i did and want to listen in real time....
I get it on Sunday morning before a rerun of Prairie Home Companion.
Ira Glass is one of my heroes.

I think about a year ago SHowtime had weekly half hour This American Life shows but I kept forgetting what time the show was on.

This SHowtime website says This American Life wil be on for another season. You can download shows from last season.
