Are you one of the idiots?

I cannot believe how many idiots I'm running into that think this "extra" rebate is free money. They are not even bothered buy the idea that our Government is so worried they are trying to buy themselves time (as in the idiots of this Country catching on) nor the fact that this rebate will be coming out of their taxes next year. And yes, I know most here are not one of those idiots.

And that the money is being borrowed at interest.

Well shit. I hate to admit it but I might be one of those idiots. i didn't think it was free money, i just figured it was what we paid in past years...i guess a refund is more what I thought it is. But in my defense, i didn't pay much attention to the announcement. It was coming from bush so I knew there would be some sort a catch.

I'm not one of THOSE idiots, although I'm sure we can find a category in which I'd qualify.

I have recently made a hobby out of asking what the most patriotic things we can do with this money would be, without getting any answers.

I, too, have a few friends who just want the money and don't care what it ultimately costs.

When it came time to vote on our contracts, the ONLY thing many members cared about was the $300 signing bonus; people can be bought very cheaply.

Even on these boards, I've asked where to put this money to do the most good for our country. I can't see how buying something made in China helps us. I can't see how putting it in the bank helps our country.

Should we just do a lot of eating out?

the best place for it would be for people to pay down some of their personal debt...as for me, straight into a high yield savings

Obviously, you should give it to the campaign of your choice.

It's hard to care about being "patriotic" when your car needs work or your stomach is empty.

See above.

Since $300 equals a weeks pay plus for a lot of people, it's understandable.

You gotta make sure you can provide for yourself and your family before you try to support someone/something else finacially wise. But your guess is as good as mine when it comes to importing super cheap shit.

I don't think you're that old are you? If you ask me you should put it in something that earns a higher return....you can get 10% or better depending on how you allocate it in a IRA, mutual fund or whatever....

What does a high-yield savings give? 5%?
