I think TV is making me smarter

No kidding. At first it was just little things, I knew what people were going to do before they did them. I thought it was just coincidence, but more and more often I knew what people on TV were going to say before they said it. I'd say it right out loud and a second later they'd say it. I don't believe in telepathy so I have to believe I'm just getting smarter. THEN this week my wife started doing it too! This proves it! We must be getting smarter by watching primetime!

Just last night my wife said, "She should buy a vowel." and the lady on TV DID! And later, I said "NO DEAL!" and not two seconds later the guy on TV said "NO DEAL!"

I swear to god this is true.

The reason why you're able to predict what a tv show's dialogue is due to the unimaginative and overused content that hasn't undergone improvement for decades. There is no creativity on boardcast networks at all.

What are you talking about? Have you seen the primetime lineup?

Wife Swap
Dancing with the Stars
Supernanny
Deal or No Deal
American Idol
Big Brother
Biggest Loser
not to mention the Price Is Right Million Dollar Spectacular and about 20 CSIs and Laws & Orders.

And have you heard how excited they are on the commertials when they talk about these shows!? I mean, how could anyone live without watching?!

With a steady diet of this sort of mind rotting crap it's a wonder America can still feed itself.

Speaking of mind rotting crap, let me say this: Katie Couric.

The ad for her new series starting tomorrow on immigration starts out like some real thought was put into it. Describing the hardships pregnant women will go through to give birth on this side of the border. Fathers arriving in the emergency room with clothing still wet from swimming the river...

...and I thought, 'looks like a fair treatment of that topic for a change'... but then...

...AND HOW YOU ARE PAYING FOR IT!!!

oh yeah, that's productive. That won't push any buttons at all.

Television. Wow it´s been a long time without typing that word. I must reckon I switch between History channel, Discovery channel, and Odisea while I have dinner on weekdays. Oh, National Geographic too. Thing is they air the same stuff again and again.

All the above could've been- and likely was, lifted virtually word for word from the transcripts of Geraldo, Sally Jesse, Jerry Springer and half a dozen other circus ring masters of daytime TV from the late 80's on up.

The Price is Right is fuckin' older than half of us on this board. And that CSI and Law & Order had to be cloned proves the point.

It's because gladiators in the Colosseum lacks a certain subtlety.

"Korea" Couric [yes, she reminds me of the North Morean "news" caster announcing the nuclear weapons test] will be the downfall of that network. She's the biggest financial mistake they've ever made. I've never once been impressed by her, and often I've wished that colon cancer took her instead [no, I'm not apologizing for that].

This addresses something else that pisses me off to no end. Back not too long ago you could watch a documentary and feel educated... even- dare I say it, enlightened. But when a nature documentary is turned into a voiced over "reality" tv show [i.e. Merecat Mannor] or a self indulgant run-on-and-on-and-on about the host/narrator of that show then it ceases to be anything of value.

Steve Irwin's wife and kid need to get off his grave and get real work! Irwin was an animal antagonizing retard who got what he deserved. Better still, he didn't even get the dignity of being killed by a really dangerous animal, rather he was evoluiontarily selected against by one of the least aggressive species possible. It says that Irwin's approach to wildlife is an abject failure and in fact counterproductive.

The only good good documentaries still being played are narrated by Sir David Attinborough and he's old enough now that retirement is right around the corner.

And no more "documentaries" about blowing shit up for no constructive reason!

I feed myself a steady diet of PBS and Sports.

The occasional movie and some sitcoms I find amusing.

The rest is shit.

Last week on the news, I think a ship went down. One dead....more in the water were rescued.

I like when they mess w/the other boats...did you see when one ship loaded the other's traps w/garbage?

Then, to retaliate, the victims pulled up a trap halfway, and tied a pipe to the line.

Crocadile man! (Alligator?) There´s another aussy dude (can´t remember his name atm) who films really good stuff. It even made me drop a tear the other day while watching something recorded at Timor isles.
