Freshman year of college, big party at a campground that sits on the shore of a large resevouir. It's about 2am, everyone is pretty wasted. Someone dares someone else to swim across the resevoir. It's about 1/2 mile wide at this place. The guy starts swimming across, nobody can believe it. I have always been a really strong swimmer, and decide that this would be an easy task. So against everyone's advice, I too begin the long swim. About halfway across, I realize I am in deep shit. I am getting exhausted, and the opposite shore is still a LONG way off. All the beer in my stomach is flip-flopping. I vomited, which made it nearly impossible to keep my head above water. I was disoriented. I filled my lungs with air, and did the "dead mans float". I also prayed. I turned back, fixing my eyes on the campfire. No way was I going to make it back. I saw a bright light, which I thought may or may not have been Jesus. It was the Sherrif department's spotlight, and they hauled my drunk, nearly dead ass to shore. Then to the hospital, to check me out. Needless to say, I was lucky. Oh, the other guy who swam across, he was just faking it. He had just swam out far enough to turn back undetected.

WHOA....
The best thing about that story is the ending

did the sherrifs dept have a boat or did they swim out to get you?

Does it have to be when I was drunk?
I do my best screw ups with a clear mind. I found I really can't put my dumbest foot forward if I'm wasted.

If you remember things, you were not drunk.

And like Rollerball here, i've done the dumbest things while sober.... No regrets for anything while drunk. But then again, i don't remember much

Actually, they had been called in to bust our bonfire which had gotten loud and out of hand, and reported by another camper. When they showed up, one of my drunk friends mentioned to them that they may want to check on me, cause "I'd been out there a long time". They came by boat, that's how they bust parties on the resevoir. Thank God, because I don't think they could have swam that far in time!

one night I was in back of Hairy Mary's (the local punk rock music venue-now defunct :R.I.P.)smoking the stickiest if the icky, which undoubtedly had as much to do with my poor decision making as any alcohol I had consumed, when I suddenly felt the need to impress those around me with my physical prowess. There was a church next door that had their backlot fenced with a 8 ft. security fence complete with three stands of barbed wire angled out. Having noticed the bars A.C. unit next to the fence, I told my friends that I could get over the fence without touching it. As I expected they assured me I was not capable of such a feat, and having sucked them into my trap I cleared those standing by the A.C. unit out of the way. I ran up to the A.C. unit and jumped on top of it like a step and then bounded up in an attempt to clear the fence. They say depth perception is often comprimised by THC and booze, I can attest to that fact. As I swung my arms up toward the sky they slipped between the 2nd & 3rd row of barbed wire. My arms caught on the barbed wire right at the inside of the elbows of both arms with a barb for each of them as well as a row of barbs across my stomach which stopped any remaining momentum. Needless to say no was impressed by anything they saw with the possible exception of a high pain threshold, which was a result of the weed & beer that had helped me covince myself I could do such a preposterous feat. I later came to realize that had I cleared the fence I would have been forced to climb back over & probably have gotten as injured as I already was.

1 DUAI and 1 DWI. I wasn't done with the first court session with the DUAI when I got my DWI.
