Car question: new brakes squeal
I got new brakes and rotors but now the brakes sometimes (not all the time but most of the time) squeal. Should I be taking it back to the mechanics or will it eventually stop once the brakes are 'worn' in?

I suppose you should take it back to them if it's been three weeks.... but if they only replaced the pads and rotors you did allright though...usually they'll rip you off by telling you that you have to replace the calipers too...which is a load of crap....and expensive... I always do my own brakes for that reason... |

It was my dad's friend who did it and I told my dad it's squeaking but according to him, he can't hear anything but I think he just doesn't want to take it back to his buddy. He says it's normal for new brakes to squeal but I don't want to hear it. |

Usually new brakes for a very short time, a day. After that if they're squeaking it seems that maybe a caliper spring might not have backed off the pads. could be a simple fix but get it looked at. Pads and rotors have warranties

Could be they bought cheap pads from Autozone, or the likes. As long as the car stops, and you don't feel a bumping/pulsing when you hit the brakes, you're fine
