Thanks for this. I will dive into it.
Have you heard what our government (jeez, sometimes it doesn't seem like "mine") is doing to protect major pharmeceutical corporations with regard to their liability when they knowingly produce some of the riskiest of the drugs we've seen? It is evidently the opinion of one Antonin Scalia that the drug corporations are free from liability when some gutted shell of the FDA has any person review a new drug and declare it "safe enough". But Scalia was son of an avowed fascist and open admirer of Mussolini and Hitler, educated privately in a school comprised of students being offspring of his fathers ideological soulmates. Why didn't we know about this man's downright un-American leanings and where were our elected officials? We are one justice away from having jeweled crowns and robes for the CEOs of large corporations. People had better wake up before it's too late. |

I listened to the first few. Better not let Kblair7 see these, she apparently believes corporations are all good, have no need for regulation, can't possibly work against their own self-interests or those of consumers, need little oversight and should never be punished because that would only hurt the innocent. Jeez, why not just bestow upon them the Superman-like power of invulnerability so they can't be touched. Yeah, that's the ticket...God status.
If we actually had any concept of a "job market" then maybe people would never work against their own self-interest by working for a profit making entity that ran afoul of the law. The corporation has another super-power...the power of shape-shifting. It is a person and not a person, a person when it wants the rights normally ascribed to persons and not a person when it comes to liability for damages. The shape of models for profit and loss also shift when it comes to corporations -- free enterprise for profits and socialism for losses. When they run amok...God help us. We will be powerless. Oh and nobody ever said all corporations are bad. It is only the ones that are not good. Few bad apples my ass... |

Pardon the afterthoughts but these clips brought a lot of things to mind.
The corporation also wants a tradition-busting government indemnity without government regulation...not much different from the benefits inherent in shape-shifting. Paul Krugman explains this one in detail, here. |
