don't get me started on the american consumer!
when you allow morons to run the show, all you end up with is what we have, a toxic environment, dying biosphere, energy shortages and an economy in ruins.

at some point grown-ups have to prevail or doom is all you have to look forward to.

Got it...both.

I have well over two years of posting between two boards, on both of which you have been simultaneously a member.

You know how they say that the data base of the old Bill Maher board is, poof, gone? Karl Rove's emails, as well? The upside of surveillance is that there exists in the electronic bowels of the information age a copy of pretty much everything. I know, I know...what does that have to do with the conversation at hand.

NO ONE will EVER produce ANYTHING I've ever written that supports corporate welfare. I admit to writing one paper the position of which was flawed and which I no longer hold...I was just tryin' to get my executive father's approval, you know how it goes...but nowhere, ever have I advocated corporate welfare.

On the contrary, lots and lots and lots of pieces and paragraphs can be produced that argue just the opposite.

I do not support Obama. For absence of allegiance to everyone's next favorite he-can-do-no-wrong icon, Obama Fans look to find fault with everything I say.

Whether or not you agree with my views, they/I have been EMINENTLY consistent, which is more than a lotta people can say. As for whether I know what I'm talking about, let's compare notes down the line.

Right now, pretty much everything I have been vilified for saying has come down the pike. Not liking what I say doesn't make me wrong.

you're right. 95% of your reply doesn't have a damn thing to do with this post and does nothing to substantiate your position. and btw, just saying you're right doesn't make it so.

for the record, i never said a damn word about obama in this post, either.

the fed gets the money it's loaning these bozos somewhere, right?
either it's borrowed from other countries, or they just print more - further devaluing the dollar. no matter how you turn it, it's fucking us and giving poorly managed corporations bailouts they don't deserve. you might not consider THAT corporate welfare, but i can't think of a better term for it.

Here's my take on it:

Everyone's going to get a leg up during these times. Which isn't a good sign, but it seems unavoidable.

The difference between JoeSixPack over extended mortgage, and the "players" of the market is intent.

Joe didn't intend nor was he thinking of making a killing. His intent and even his ability to know WTF he was doing is in question due to some of the less then "on the table" practices by people selling these mortgages.

But Mr. BWW/BlueTooth, knew exactly what he was doing (or so he thought), and his intent was to be risky, was to "make a killing". He was trying to take advantage, manipulate, or "gamble" if you will, in hopes of a big pay off.

I doubt that can be said for most homeowners in a shitty mortgage. Yes they stood to "own" a home that wasn't in their league, and stood to gain from what ever equity eventually came from it. But I doubt that was their sole motivation. Most of them just didn't want to rent anymore. They wanted a "home", of their own. The behavior wasn't risky or bad, if you take into consideration the loan practices that were going on at the time.

I'm sure there are secretaries and mail room people who will benefit from companies being able to access this "line of credit" or how ever they are arranging it. Because now they won't go belly up.

But I just can't help but thinking and being irritated, that there's some douchewhistle out there who bragged up and down how he was a player, a mover, a shaker, and we're all gutless stiffs for just working for a living, that won't have to eat crow.

I don't mind these people if their risky behavior has a down side, risk should always have the potential of reward, but when it doesn't it really irks me.
