Anyone know about bonds?

I found a few German WW1 bonds in my father's possessions and can't find any info on them. Does anyone know where I can?

I googled it, and came up with lots of sites, but here's one in which a bond is being offered for sale. Pictures, front and back are included...

German 20 Reichsbanknote WWI - Germany 1914

I did the same and got what you got, and those are not what I got. They are actual bonds issued by Munich, Germany and a few other cities in Germany issued in 1916-1924. Numerous denominations. I'm gonna assume they are WW1 war bonds.

Might want to talk to a few people, not only somebody that specializes in finance, but also somebody that may know something about WWI memorabilia....

I was all prepared to rattle off whatever when I saw the question...then I got here and realized I don't know a damn thing about what you need to know...sorry.

I also thought about the memoribilia collectors, but also these may still be honored, as a few types of bonds I've seen from this era have been honored at face value. (If that's the case, I'm gonna need an armed escort!)

It's possible, but I'm going to research these as much as I can before anything happens. Gotta do the smart move on my part.

As memorabilia, they are only worth, what someone is willing to pay for them.

If these are municipal bonds, issued by a city, they should still be good, and should pay the face plus 80+ years interest. My advice. Call a broker house.

Bonds do not pay interest indefinitely...they have a maturity. If they are zero coupon bonds they are bought at a discount...say a zero coupon 10 yr bond that has a face value will sell for $700 and then redeemed for $1000 in 10 yrs

Bonds that have make coupon payments(usually semianual) will pay a stated percentage of the face value and ideally(not usually though) the bond sells for it's face value. So in this case if the % was 7% and the life was 10 yrs again it would sell for $1000, make $35 payments every 6 months and then you would get your $1000 back at the end of the 10 year period

btw...municipal bonds are the most risky...
