Obama was not playing on a level playing field from inside a major party either.......but he was determined to play.

I will agree that the cards are stacked against a third party bigtime. HOWEVER as long as those who want to be in a third party think that it will change soley by them pointing out that obvious fact ad nauseum then they will remain marginalized.

Ralph Nader over the last 7 or so elections? Too old and loopy now, of course, but once upon a time.....

I don't buy Barr's libertarian credentials, and I think he's still basically a Republican. But maybe he's a Republican who could do some good.

Didn't sound or act very Libertarian during the Clinton admin., especially toward the end......

So, you would trust the U.S. to Ron 'The Riddler' Paul with his revisionist history and complete lack of government regulation. As to that evil government regulation, see Wall Street circa right now to see how well corporation self-regulation works.

well there is more to it than that.
They go by "original intent" - but to the extent that they will not adapt to modern confditions.

I've always subscribed to the " living document" idea.

But that is the schism on Constitutional law.
I can see benfits to both sides, but in the end i think it serves no purpose to constrain interpretation.

I say do the write in - I have confident that most democratic supporters can spell OBAMA and that most Palin/McCain supporters can't even write (we already know they can't read)

There certainly seems to be a problem with reading comprehension and retention. We need a new social education program 'No Candidate Left Behind'.
