I hate this lame comeback. It is over-used all the time in online debates. Fact is, I didn't watch it as it happened, but can't seem to get away from it in the media. Besides, turning your eyes away from something you don't like is akin to denial.

And my reply to you would be, "if you don't like my posts, don't read them!"

Hell, I even agree with him...it was kind of shitty! But I just don't think that Letterman should use his show to promote his own political leanings.
Letterman was responding to events as they were happening. His ranting and raving was an expression of what he was thinking and feeling. Ugly? Maybe. Shitty? That's what he thought of McCain blowing him off for an interview with Katie Couric.

And Katie Couric's show is?

Uhhhh.... the last time I checked, Katie Courics' show is news (i.e. journalistic reporting). Letterman's show is talkshow entertainment.

I understand Letterman is pissed and enjoyed the rant on the first night. Last night though he kept going on and on about it, I found myself wishing he would just get to Paris Hilton. He sort of beat it to death, really he spent like 20 minutes or more over the last two days on it. Not that I mind him ripping into grandpa McSane but it seemed a little over the top eventually.

Anybody recall how pissed off Michael Moore was at Larry King for bumping him as a guest in favor of Paris Hilton? Aside from egos at work here, it's probably a royal pain in the ass to reschedule or have fill ins for guests who cancel at the last minute. In any case, it wasn't McCain's no show that was the worst thing, it was the lying about having to leave for DC right away. Anybody see a pattern here?

To be fair, I have no comeback for this statement and actually agree with this part of it.

The last I checked, tv does not watch a person, a person watches tv.

Then don't read my posts, either.

OK, gang, let the tomatoes fly!
Very well, here is one. You are well named.
Mr. McCain could have/should have told Mr. Letterman he was going
to do an interview with Katie Couric instead, since this is such an
important news story, and she, being host of CBS Evening News,
whatever her journalistic merits or lack thereof, has a more appropriate
venue. But instead he claimed he was rushing back to Washington at
once. Like his ad claiming he had won a debate which has yet to occur,
he was lying. Is lying to David Letterman a big issue? Perhaps on its
own, no. But lying as a matter of course, as a campaign strategy, indeed
apparently as a way of life, is an issue. We have had enough of that
for too many years.
