I have made a few posts saying that she will back out of the debate and maybe out of the VP seat, but that is not just because she is inept it is also because I am expecting some kind of dirty-pool from the GOP.

I think actually... they will try and make strengths out of her weaknesses...

"Hey, she's just the governor of Alaska and a mother..."

"She's not a Washington politician like Biden, just plain folks." (Never mind McCain is an old GOP party boy)

Plus, she is pro-life and pro-guns so many voters have their minds made up.

(Besides, a lot of them probably wont be watching the debates anyway.)

I saw the debate last night.

I'm sure she was glued to her set and taping it, probably looking at it right now. (And also trying to memorize lists of the names of world leaders. lol)

It will be interesting to see if she shows up.

But yeah, I say there is a 50-50 chance she won't show up.

Remember how reporters were chastised for questioning the WMDs and terrorist ties before the Iraq war? Told they were being unpatriotic, no one wanted to hear it.

It will be the same for Palin not showing up.

"She puts her family before politics, how dare you bring up a debate at a time like this, what kind of monster are you...?"

Family values and all that.

Thx

Exactly, it is not up to Ms. Palin. This, according to Ed Shultz, is the state
of some in the McCain campaign:

McCain Camp insiders say Palin “clueless”

Capitol Hill sources are telling me that senior McCain people are more than concerned about Palin. The campaign has held a mock debate and a mock press conference; both are being described as “disastrous.” One senior McCain aide was quoted as saying, “What are we going to do?” The McCain people want to move this first debate to some later, undetermined date, possibly never. People on the inside are saying the Alaska Governor is “clueless.”

I just don't get this! She did so poorly with Charlie Gibson -- why
did McCain's handlers let her even appear with Katie Couric?

Maybe they figured Katie being a woman it would be easier. lol

(Katie was tough, I watch CBS every night before PBS.)

They can't hide Palin forever and maybe they thought it would repair or give her a do-over (no hair pun intended.) for the Gibson interview.

Thx

Y a got me on this one!

But, as I've stated in the past here, she'll not appear for the debate. Something will come up...health...family...she's needed in Alaska because nobody's watching Russia now that shes gone. Who knows what wild story they'll concoct!

Personally, I hope she does show and debate. It'll be a riot to watch!!!

That's just it...she was easy on her, she didn't ask her tough questions where she was forced to think on her feet. Palin fumbled a question on the McCain record!

I thought the interview was almost like exposing how unqualified she is, the way they left it at "I'll find some and get back to you."

I don't think they wanted to grill Sarah Palin necessarily, just get her to talk beyond the "I said thanks, but no thanks" speech and let nature take its course.

Thx

You know something occurred to me as i was reading this thread. If you took Sarah Palin and replaced her with any Joe from the street with half a brain why shouldn't he be vp? I mean, we haven't been very happy with establishment, or career "politik" so why not? We should be recruiting people from outside Washington political scene. Not every person elected has to come from Harvard either. That doesn't necessarily delineate excellence either. Bush came from Yale and he probably got in when he figured out the square peg doesn't go in the round hole.

The attitude against Sarah Palin and Mr. Obama reflects a fear of "inexperience," but is that necessarily bad? No one running in this election has any hands on presidential experience anyways, so that argument has really stopped working on me. Inexperience at what exactly? Mr. Obama has a great deal of experience in leadership roles, at fighting for civil rights, and has (from what I have heard) a good command of law. So why wouldn't that qualify him? Mr. McCain has similar but slightly different qualifications.

Mr. Biden is a far better choice for the Obama ticket. Ms. Palin was a poor choice, not because she isn't from the "Washington" establishment, but because shes sadistic, stubborn, and egotistical. Not to mention that she and her family have had many questionable run ins with the law. She has no stand on policy, except to parrot back GOP talking points. So the only thing left to judge her on is character and she is lacking in that. It is too bad because this could have signaled a shift in how we choose.

I think they are going to replace Palin with Huckabee. Huckabee is already vetted and he is a fundie favorite. They could never replace her and risk losing the Christian right if they did not have a better person in the wings.

McCain's next hail mary pass will be to replace her this week with Huckabee who will be able to debate Biden.

A Huckabee choice would make Cookie very happy.
