When the North Korean government news agency annoucned their test detonation of a nuclear weapon the woman reported it with all the cheer of a fluff story about kittens using that bright'n'perky smile and cute tone. It reminded my of Couric's mannerisms when she reports on bullshit fluff stories.

There was a time here when Current Affairs programs were just that current affairs, now it's all about the latest weight loss pill, cellulite cream and miracle pain cure, just paid advertisments dressed up to look like news. But it's not what they show us that pisses me off as much as it's like this and Iraq and what they don't tell us thats criminal. ![]() |

She'll only regret it after she's canned from her current gig and won't be taken back by her old network. Right now she's thriving on the attention her interviews have gotten her. She's also convinced by the hype that she did a good interview. The truth is she's way to soft on her interviewee, but because Palin was that clueless it seemed like good journalism.

Monday afternoon when the House vote failed, I had mixed emotions. I will admit that so much of this is over my head, but I was dubious about the hysteria with which we were warned that this bail out had to be passed immediately. (De ja vu all over again, PTSD flashbacks to the obscene crazed frenzy with which we were propagandized into bombing Iraq.) After the vote my friend (whose sister is a billionaire and whose niece and husband are close personal friends of John McCain) and I walked -- and my friend explained to me that the reason the Republicans had voted against the bail out was because Republicans did not want any Congressional oversight. My friend is no Alan Greenspan or Paul Krugman, but she does watch CNBC 24/7, literally. |
