Thumbs down CBS Censors Palin Tapes for exculsive Mac interviews

Couric Hides Embarrassing Palin Tape in Exchange for Exclusive Interviews

Blue Tidal Wave
Tuesday, September 30, 2008

Quote:
In Monday's column from Howard Kurtz about Sarah Palin's disastrous interview with Katie Couric, he mentions more embarrassing footage of Palin was not released by CBS:
"And the worst may be yet to come for Palin; sources say CBS has two more responses on tape that will likely prove embarrassing. "
CBS Evening News insiders say the censoring of the Palin interview was orchestrated by CBS News heads and Couric in an effort to show the McCain campaign that they should choose the struggling nightly news program for their exclusive interviews.

With the McCain campaign's public crusade against NBC and MSNBC, CBS and Couric saw an opening to shore up her last place ratings among the big three nightly news programs. Speculation had swirled for months around Couric's future as a news anchor.

This summer CBS News was caught editing an interview with John McCain to correct his wrong answers to questions posed by Couric over the basic facts of the surge. CBS News also erased McCain's comments characterizing the Iraq war as the first major conflict since 9/11, which totally ignores the Afghanistan War.

This McCain omitted interview incident from July was the first in a series of troubling signs of favoritism by Couric and the CBS Evening News towards the McCain campaign.

The Politico is reporting that one of the embarrassing Palin responses revealed is her inability to name another Supreme Court ruling aside from Roe vs Wade. Palin shockingly somehow graduated from the University of Idaho with a minor in political science!

CBS News was busted covering up McCain blunders and now refuses to air incriminating footage of Palin floundering on simple American political history questions taught to middle school students.

Where is the tape CBS? Why are they hiding it from voters? Why is CBS manipulating their coverage to hide McCain campaign mistakes?
Thanks again, corporate media!

This should be considered a crime and CBS should be punished. This is election coverage that the public will use to decide the next president of the United States and falsifying the information to purposefully mislead the public is inexcusable.

Edited to add that this is proof of how journalism has changed for the worst. It's no longer about reporting the truth; it's about being a celebrity and "feeling" important.

More embarrassing?

It's sad that to sell out like this is not as shocking as it was say 10 years ago. Just Pathetic

It actually reveals the ugly, hopeless truth behind the liberal media canard. CBS agreed not to release a product, in exchange for the right to release a more profitable product.

All media of any weight, is corporately owned. Corporations do not make decisions based on the public good. They make decisions based on profitability.

It is not in the interest of of corporately held media to provide information that is not considered helpful to their ownership, or their true customers, other corporations who advertise on their airwaves.

So when did the journalists sell their souls? I mean if they truly believed in what they were doing wouldn't they resist against this type of shit.

Is it a matter of good journalists being replaced with mannequins that can talk if they don't cooperate, forcing them to sell out or is it simply that the corporations have been replacing real reporters with these mannequins for some time now and real reporters are no longer being sought?

"When they offer golden apples, are you sure you'd refuse?"

In my opinion, it all started with Reagan. He deregulated the industry. It allowed conglomerate ownership, of previously independent media holdings. This changed the value system of journalism, for the most part.

I believe there are still people who believe in true journalistic integrity, but that's not where the jobs are.

Not too surprising since we have the 53rd most free press in the US.

Reporters sans frontières - Annual Worldwide Press Freedom Index - 2006

Quote:
Deterioration in the United States and Japan, with France also slipping

The United States (53rd) has fallen nine places since last year, after being in 17th position in the first year of the Index, in 2002. Relations between the media and the Bush administration sharply deteriorated after the president used the pretext of “national security” to regard as suspicious any journalist who questioned his “war on terrorism.” The zeal of federal courts which, unlike those in 33 US states, refuse to recognise the media’s right not to reveal its sources, even threatens journalists whose investigations have no connection at all with terrorism. (2006)

Corporate greed has ruined everything from the music industry to the fucking news. They certainly are making a strong case for money being the root of all evil.

Who cares about quality, art or truth when you can mass produce shit and make ten times as much.

Thanks again, corporate media!
Anyone doubt "Korea" Couric is a right wing hank now?
