I didn't catch it, we were all yelling at the TV or laughing. Usually this is a quiet household, but the second politics comes up... oh god.

Emily taught me a new word today: McCain is a "fuckmook" (what exactly is a fuckmook?)This has been such a great day, my face hurts from smiiiiiiiiiling so much (not used to that, and I'm not being dramatic, either)

Glad to hear someone else had a great day. This was my second time to see Staind live and my first concert alone. I think it was much easier to go alone...no one to have to worry about dragging up front with me.

I go back and forth between quit and not quit. Currently NOT quit.

I know that feeling, I'm on nicotine gum now, but I'll be visiting relatives in a couple of days and I doubt I'll last an hour.

As long as I don't fall so low as to resort to scabbing for butts in desperation, then I can convince myself I'm ahead.

I liked the lozenges and even use them when I know I can't smoke for awhile (like tonight's concert). I know, bad. I have other things to accomplish before quitting though.

I watched the debate on BBC-A so I could easily check the international view on the debate afterward. That wasn't very in-depth and featured mostly Americans abroad and was really short. Not so short as to not allow for an Exxon commercial. Went to CNN for a minute, had a BP comercial. Then off to MSNBC for a third petro corporation commercial all in a space of 15 minutes.

Then I tuned into an odd channel CRNT where hackers chatted during a replay of the debate. Awesome. Best line I've heard yet came from there:

"Iraq is McCain's 'Precious' "!

Here's the deal. Iraq was a fiasco. the only worse thing would be a continuing fiasco.
Agian, the best of bad choices is to have a functioning state.

It also isn't Afghanistan. It is also a sovereign country that is suffering from an internal civil war with religious undercurrents. A sovereign country that has asked for us to leave.

We didn't leave because they were isolated strategically, we walked away because, as now, the citizens of the U.S. had never really supported the action and definitely had no desire to stay.

Continuing foreign occupation (us) is a rallying point for insurgency. That we aren't Arab, are western, and are predominantly Christians makes our involvement more a part of the problem than the solution. I also can't help but wonder when the world's problems became solvable only by the U.S.

I doubt it. Iranians are predominantly PERSIAN and would have much more trouble ingratiating themselves in the region than you allow. Also can't forget what reaction from the U.N. would entail. This is just another MIC boogeyman.

Chaos is what they and by association the U.S. has now.
BTW, AQ wasn't there before, so they can't be 'back in'. The locals don't have all that much love of the AQ and are in a much better position to deal with them than an occupying, foreign, Christian country that's located thousands of miles away is.

Like they have now? With our surge money support? This isn't exactly news, these conflicts have been going on in the region since before there was a U.S.A., and we haven't done anything other than increase the violence.

A corporate bottom line is poor foreign policy and isn't working.
