PRINCETON, N.J. — An outcry from students and faculty at Princeton University is rattling the campus here after a student who is leading a movement to instill conservative moral values among undergraduates was physically attacked Friday, beaten, and rendered unconscious in a rare incidence of violence within the Ivy League.

The incident is prompting an outcry from conservative students and faculty who say they feel singled out by the Princeton administration and the majority of the student body, who have remained silent in the face of what many say is a politically charged attack.

A politics major from Texas who is a junior, Francisco Nava, was assaulted about two miles from campus in Princeton Township by two black-clad men who pinned him against a wall and repeatedly bashed his head against the bricks, he told the student newspaper, the Daily Princetonian, in an interview.

Mr. Nava told the student paper that the two men told him to shut up. The assailants did not steal his wallet, credit cards, or cell phone, he said.

No suspects had been identified yesterday, and the Princeton Township Police Department said it would not comment on the pending investigation.

The attack came two days after Mr. Nava, a leader of the Anscombe Society, a morally conservative student group that speaks out against same-sex marriage and pre-marital sex, received death threats via e-mail. Three other Anscombe leaders and a conservative professor also received the threats.

Although I don't agree with the action I can certainly understand it and they should have expected it. You can't sit there and call everyone sinners and preach your hatred without there being consequences. Cowards like this hide behind free speech laws and shout out their rhetoric against those very same laws and then cry and moan about the reaction they get.

There's nothing special about being a liberal that makes us immune to getting pissed off. Nor is there anything about being liberal that makes us smarter (even if they do tend to be more educated) and able to see the bigger picture to our actions and the moral implications they have. When people say terrible things about us it triggers aggressive reactions in our brains just as it does everyone else's. Not everyone is capable of surprassing this and political labels are no barriers to this aspect of the human condition.

So I hope that these people are found and the law punishes them because free speech is important, but anyone that claims this shows some evils behind liberalism is just silly. Anyone that doesn't expect this kind of thing is just stupid.

this is a hate crime and should be prosecuted as such, I was just told to leave a poster on the board alone by the moderator after the poster repeatedly cussed at me. There is a post on the Conservative thread about this guy, he is one of those loose cannon liberals that will fly off one day and kill somebody.

A republican got stomped by a bed wetting liberal how embarrasing. Being republican is a choice. Hate crimes normally are enforced when crimes are commited against someone for thier race or even homosexuality.
