On the contrary, I have met several welfare recipients who think thing're pretty good...white men, all of 'em, incidentally. Homeless. Livin' the life. They prefer it. They report to the welfare office on the first of each month...$312 in General Relief, I'm told, and $187 in food stamps. No bills, no aggravation, a six-pack before the liquor store closes and they're good to go until the liquor stores open back up at 7 a.m. They keep mailboxes.

After six months, they have to hop a rail and sign on in another state, then they come back and do it again in sunny California. One guy said he's been doing it since 1988...better'n them West Virgina coal mines, an' better'n the Pen.

Why do you suppose such abuse would continue during this Republican Heyday, when the theoretical fiscal conservatives have REALLY had power?
