christmas ads
Huckabee started this with an ad that plays extremely well with the people it's aimed at.
I am told by many that Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Christ, but very damned few seem to celebrate it as such, and our economy seems to depend upon people spending on Christmas. At any rate, I give his ad high marks. I give Clinton's high marks, also. Others get lesser marks. Your opinions?

I saw the ad yesterday. Of course it's loaded with subliminal messages, half the people the ad is aimed at see the Virgin Mary in a piece of toast or an oil slick. The last thing this country needs is another wing nut Bible thumper in the Oval Office. Huckabee will fool a lot of southern moderates and independents with his populist economic rhetoric and his superficial affability, but I doubt that the big money that controls the GOP will let him anywhere near the nomination. And as far as his version of Christ goes, it's not the only one. I personally don't subscribe to the notion of Jesus as some self righteous warrior god. The "Christmas" being pushed by the religious right every year with their cultural war is no better than the crass, commercialized holiday being hocked by soulless corporate America. A pox on both houses.

I think the real meaning of Christmas is missed by most if not all................
Justinian Was a genius IMO & it is he, rather than the Christ to whom we should give thanX for this holiday............ The giving........ "buying & selling" & the resulting taxes were what it was all about from the beginning... Giving up such profitable customs & traditions because of Christ was never an issue........... Incorporating rather than conquering served the emperor & the empire......  This............ really is the spirit of CHristmas.............
