This only belongs here because it begs some questions about abstinance only.

I confess to not having watched her show, but if one listens to the discussion of this, she apparently "preached" abstinance to her fans.

Does this make her a hypocrite, a patsy, or what?

She's only sixteen, with the freedom and responsibility of an adult who would normally be much more mature. I think it just makes her a youngster who made a very serious mistake.

I'm sure her handlers told her to take a stand for abstinence...helped promote her squeaky clean, young image. Which, I imagine, is all it was, an image to gain her popularity. Which, BTW, is what a lot of stars do; promote an image that is nothing close to reality.

Agreed. Sadly, we live in a world where we accept images as real.

I know people who think John Wayne was actually a war hero.

As you know, I've posted for a long time the opinion that we are too quickly to make "heroes' and for the wrong reasons.

One interesting part of a discussion on Abramms last night was that this was a "good" girl; always met her curfews and such.

That's a funny statment, isn't it? If he thought about it much, a girl can make curfew, but there's a lot of time between 8 am and 11 pm.; plenty of opportunities to have sex.

I used to argue about curfews. I was against them. I remember asking what trouble you can get into at midnight that you can't get into at noon.

I think my thread question concerns if SHE'S been taught abstinance only.

My wife used to give our kids curfews. I told them I'd build "fences" as they proved to need them.

I remember one night the phone rang at 1 AM. I woke up and answered it. My oldest daughter called to say they are late because they got lost. They have lots of gas and the car's running fine

In other words, she woke me up to tell me to go back to sleep.

I remember being young and going out with friends. Maybe we'd go to a movie and then stop at the 24 hr diner. Just sitting and talking in those days, time went by at a seemingly impossible rate, and it always turned out to be later than we thought.

Teenage pregnancy doesn't just happen to girls who live in trailer parks, or those with a certain mentality/behavior, as you are implying.

BTW, people can't always help living in trailer parks. If I had to, I would and still be grateful for a roof over my head.

Her mother let her live with her 19 year old boyfriend. I am NOT one to blame mothers...but, geesh

those girls aren't right...period.
I feel a little sorry for both of them, I really think Britany is suffering from some type of mental disorder...as well as drug addiction
